Flemister, Prendergast and D'Amato Named All-American by d3baseball.com
ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS
The postseason recognition continues to pile up for St. John Fisher seniors
Justin D'Amato and
Nick Flemister and Ithaca junior John Prendergast as d3baseball.com has named the trio to its All-American teams.
The selection caps a busy postseason for Flemister who had already been named Player of the Year by d3baseball.com, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and the Empire 8. The senior catcher has been named First-Team All-American for the first time in his career after ranking sixth nationally with 21 doubles on the year, which set a new Fisher single-season record. The Pittsford native compiled the second-highest batting average in the Empire 8 at .408. Flemister's 64 hits this season were tops in the conference moving him to fourth all-time on the single-season list at Fisher, while his 33 RBI this season ranked second on the team and among the best in the conference.
A d3baseball.com National Player of the Week honoree, Flemister clubbed 12 consecutive base hits in 12-straight at bats, just missing the all-time NCAA Division III record. The Business management major, who carries a 3.57 grade point average, was also named to the Baseball Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for his outstanding work in the classroom.
Ithaca junior John Prendergast was named a third-team All-American, days after earning d3baseball.com's Pitcher of the Year for the New York Region.
Prendergast, the E8 Pitcher of the Year, went 9-1 on the season with a 2.60 earned-run average. He threw three complete games and allowed just six walks this season against 56 strikeouts. He ranks fifth in the NCAA in strikeout-walk ratio and with 27 career wins stands just four wins away from tying the Ithaca record in career pitching victories.
Now a three-time All-American, D'Amato garnered an Honorable Mention after posting a 9-1 record to go along with a team-best 1.69 earned run average and 65 strikeouts.
The senior wraps up his four-year career as one of the best to ever take the hill for Fisher. D'Amato ranks first all-time in career wins at Fisher and ninth in Division III history with 36 wins. The Canandaigua native also ranks first in program history in innings pitched (276.2), strikeouts (325), earned run average (2.11) and games started (47).
A two-time Empire 8 Conference Pitcher of the Year, D'Amato was also named First-Team All-Region for the third time in his standout career earlier this week.
