Cornelius in Sixth-Place After Day One at NCAAs
DAY ONE RESULTS
Devin Cornelius of the St. John Fisher College men's track and field team was the lone male E8 competitor in action on Thursday at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Delaware, Ohio. The Deansboro native currently sits in 6th place after completing five events in the decathlon and will return to action tomorrow with the final five events including the 110 meter hurdles, discus, javelin, long jump and pole vault.
Cornelius got off to a strong start earning 847 points with a fourth-place finish in the 100 meter dash after sprinting to a personal-best time of 11.06. The sophomore would go on to set another personal-best in the 400 meter dash after claiming third place in the event before tying another personal benchmark in the high jump.
Cornelius is currently only 37 points out of fourth-place. He is also 77 points ahead of his record-setting performance at ECACs last week.
