POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (May 2, 2014)
– The Stevens Institute of Technology women's outdoor track & field team competed at the Vassar College Twilight Meet on Friday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The meet was non-scoring and consisted of runners throughout all NCAA Divisions as well as unattached participants.

Six members of the women's team placed first in their respective events, while nine other finished in the top three.

Senior Tiffany Evangelou (Fair Lawn, N.J.) highlighted today's meet with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 5.24 meters in the long jump to take first overall. In the high jump, junior Amira Dardir (Jersey City, N.J.) and sophomore Gladys Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J.) tied for the top spot with a cleared height of 1.62 meters.

Sophomores Kate Moyer (Long Valley, N.J.) and Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) were top performers on the 5,000-meter run and 1,500-meter run, respectively. Moyer clocked a time of 18:23.06 in the 5K, while Regan finished in 4:45.01 in the 1,500.

Freshman Victoria Taibe (Middle Village, N.Y.) also took first for Stevens in the hammer throw with a distance of 38.21 meters.

Fellow freshman Yanique Spigner (Paramus, N.J.) placed second in the shot put and discus events, and took third in the hammer. Spigner measured out 10.30 meters in the shot put, 30.64 meters in the discus and 27.95 in the hammer.

Junior Christine Hecker (South Hampton, N.J.) posted a mark of 2.23 meters in the pole vault for a runner-up showing.

Taibe took third in the discus with a mark of 30.64 meters, while Dardir finished fourth in the javelin with a toss of 25.83 meters.

Seniors Ashley Princiotta (Manalapan, N.J.) and Kelly Freed (Rutherford, N.J.) both came in third overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 1,500. Princiotta finished the steeplechase in 12:09.34, while Freed crossed the line in 5:11.97 in the 1,500. Freshman Michelle Moreira (Coopersburg, Pa.) also placed third 100-meter dash with a time of 13.61 seconds.

Freed, Moreira and Regan teamed with sophomore Sarah Zahran (Southbury, Conn.) in the 4x400-meter relay and finished in 4:28.32 which was good for third in the event. Zahran also competed in the 800-meter dash and finished sixth in 2:30.79, while Moreira placed seventh in the 200-meter dash in 28.30 seconds.

Stevens' final top performer was senior Laura Lemke (Merrick, N.Y.), who finished sixth in the mixed 10,000-meter run with a time of 43:13.54.
