NEWARK, N.Y. -- The NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Committee has approved Ithaca College as a host institution for a 2014 NCAA Championships Regional at Colburn Park in Newark, N.Y from May 14-19. The stadium is home to the Newark Pilots of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.

Tournament games will be scheduled for 10 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on each of the first three days of the event, from Wednesday, May 14 through Friday, May 16. Saturday's games will begin at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Sunday's game will begin at 1 p.m. if necessary.

The Pilots play their home games at renovated Colburn Park. Ballpark improvements conducted prior to the 2012 season by team owners, Bob and Leslie Ohmann, and the Village of Newark made the field the best surface in the league to play on as voted by PGCBL coaches and players. More improvements are being made each year. Ballpark amenities also include full concessions and merchandise stands, a press box, team and umpire clubhouses, and athletic training areas. The Pilots are coached by Mike Armstrong, an assistant coach at Amherst College and a two-year varsity baseball player at Ithaca College, from where he graduated in 2010.

The NCAA Tournament field will be announced Sunday night, May 11 and the eight participating schools and seeds will be determined via the NCAA Championship Committee. Ithaca has qualified for the NCAA Tournament 35 times and has advanced to the Division III World Series 12 times, including winning the regional title and placing third at the Division III World Series in 2013.

Ithaca College was originally awarded to host the New York Regional at Falcon Park in Auburn, N.Y., but field renovations and construction for the 2014 season were unable to be completed in time for the scheduled regional dates.
