UC Football to Participate in International Game

Utica, NY (February 27, 2014) - The Utica College football team will travel to Canada on Sunday, May 25 for a cultural exchange exhibition game in Quebec City, Canada. NCAA Division III teams are allowed to play an international game once every three off-seasons.
The Pioneers will face the Faucons Football Cegep Levis who compete in the Football Collégial Division 1. On Saturday, May 24 UC will practice from 11 to 1 p.m. and the Pioneers will also have a reception with press and a presentation of all the players at the event.
While in Quebec City, the Pioneers and company will take a walking tour and will visit the waterfalls. The trip provides student-athletes a unique cultural opportunity as well as a chance to experience a French speaking culture first hand. UC will also take tours of Montreal and Quebec City while visiting.
The Pioneers cruised to a 75-8 victory in its international exchange game against the Saguenay Mercenaries in Saguenay, Canada (two hours north of Quebec City) on May 22, 2011 in front of an estimated crowd of 1,000. UC running back
Jake Larson (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove) was named the Pioneers Offensive Most Valuable Player, while linebacker
Dana Christofferson (Richford, NY/Dryden) was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player for UC. Nine different Pioneers scored touchdowns including
Jamie Murphy (Canadaigua, NY/Marcus Whitman), who caught two touchdown passes.
