2014 Baseball All-Conference and Award Winners Announced

The Empire 8 Athletic Conference has announced 2014 Baseball All-Conference teams as voted on by the conference coaches. In addition, the Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coaching Staff of the Year have been selected.

George Valesente and his staff led the Bombers to their 12th Empire 8 title in 14 years with a 10-2 conference record. With a current 26-9 record, the Bombersare ranked 21st by the American Baseball Coaches Association, 19th by D3baseball.com and second in the New York Region by the NCAA regional advisory committee. Ithaca will close out its regular season on May 10 and hope for an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament (bracket announced late on Sunday May 11 at ncaa.com).
 
St. John Fisher senior Nick Flemister has been named the Player of the Year. He has started all 37 games to date and is hitting .435, which ranks 27th in the nation. Offensively, he has 60 hits, 21 doubles, 33 RBIs and 90 total bases. His 21 doubles ranks third in the nation. Defensively, the catcher had recorded 237 putouts, 20 assists and a .988 fielding percentage.

Ithaca junior John Prendergast earns Pitcher of the Year accolades.  He is 9-0 with a team-low 1.78 earned run average. In 11 appearances this spring he has recorded three complete games while registering two shutouts. He has struck out 56 batters in 65.2 innings while holding opponents to a .227 batting average against. 

St. John Fisher freshman Marc Iseneker has been tabbed the Rookie of the Year. He is 6-1 with a team-low 1.87 earned run average in eight appearances. Iseneker has tossed 43.1 innings and struckout 40 batters as he held opponents to a .148 average.
