NABC Honors Two Teams, Nine Individuals

The Alfred University and Stevens Institute of Technology men’s basketball squads were recognized with a 2013-14 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award, Wednesday by the association.
 
To earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, teams must have compiled a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or better for the 2013-14 season.
 
In addition, nine E8 men’s basketball players were named to the NABC Honors Court, announced Monday.
 
Tim Pacheco, Junior – Alfred
Thomas Tsatsis, Senior – Alfred
Steve Lothridge, Senior – Alfred
Ryan Mahon, Junior – Alfred
Vinny Amuso, Senior – Nazareth
Brad Ford, Senior – Nazareth
Scott Hayford, Senior – Nazareth
Andrew Meszaros, Senior – Stevens
Kenneth Gan, Junior - Stevens
 
The nine E8 players were among a record 895 honorees from 335 Division I, II, III and NAIA colleges and universities that earned the distinction. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must have achieved at least junior standing, accumulated a grade point average of 3.2 or better at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season and matriculated at least one year at their current institutions.
