Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's basketball team was the latest program to participate in the Chillin4Charity Cold Water Challenge in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Head coach Shannon Howley and assistant coach Jessica Imhof participated by having buckets of ice water dumped over their heads on Wednesday afternoon, July 23rd.   The Elmira College coaching staff was challenged by Marymount University head coach Ashlee Courter and former Elmira assistant coach, and current Rider University assistant coach, Chloe Hamilton.

Elmira is the most recent participant in the Chillin4Charity Cold Water Challenge, which was initiated by Niya Butts, head women's basketball coach at the University of Arizona.  Proceeds of the cold water challenge benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, an organization created to remember and honor late North Carolina State women's basketball coach Kay Yow, who died of breast cancer in 2009.

Howley extended the cold water challenge to fellow Empire 8 Conference coach Michele Davis and her staff from Utica College as well as RIT head coach Amy Reed and her staff.  Imhof challenged newly appointed head women's basketball coach Jackie Craft of Hartwick College.

If the coaches accept the challenge, each coach will donate $25 towards the Kay Yow Foundation. If a coach does not accept the challenge, they must donate $250 to the foundation.
