Fisher Wins Houghton Invitational
HOUGHTON SHORT COURSE
The St. John Fisher College men's cross country team won the 2014 Houghton College Short Course Invitational on Friday. Fisher finished with a total of 28 points, beating out Empire 8 rival Nazareth College, who finished with 34.
Fisher senior Evan Magnussen was the top individual finisher for the second straight year, posting a time of 16:34.2 for the 5,000-meter race. Freshman
James Felice enjoyed a solid start to his collegiate career, placing third overall with a time of 16:50.50.

Kevin Witt was Nazareth's top finisher as he placed sixth overall. The Golden Flyers' next two runners across the finish line were sophomore
Matt Battaglia and junior
Patrick Neureuter.
Alfred University placed third on the 5K course, led by sophomore Kevin Dixon who finished fourth overall in 16:56. Freshman Matthew Roder was eighth in 17:32.
Houghton's Luke DeBoer finished 16
th overall with the time of 18:07.10 in the men's event at the Highlander Short Course Invitational on Friday afternoon.
HARTWICK at Albright
'Wick's cross country teams performed well in their season openers on Friday night in the Albright College Lights Out Invitational in Reading, PA. The men placed second out of five competing teams.
For the men, only Dickinson, which finished eighth at NCAA's last season, topped the Hawks. The Red Devils had nine of the top 10 finishers.
Seniors
Matt Loignon and
Gavin Jenkins ended the 6K race nine seconds apart. Loignon placed 11 with a time of 20:05. Jenkins was two spots behind in 13
in 20:14.
Chris Shaw was eleven ticks behind Jenkins in 17
th.
Tim Mahony placed 27 and freshman
Chris Strachan (Monroe, CT/Masuk) ended up 30 for the Hawks.
On the night, the Hawks finished with 62 points. They were in front of Penn State Abington (80), Alveria (170) and Rosemont (119).
STEVENS Two-Miler
The Stevens Institute of Technology men's cross country team battled SUNY New Paltz in a dual meet as part of the Stevens Two-Miler on Friday at Weehawken Waterfront Park. New Paltz accumulated 23 points in the meet, while Stevens posted 32 points.
The Ducks were led by sophomore
Drew Knipfer, who came in fourth overall in a time of 9:50.72 and was just over two seconds from runner-up position. Fellow sophomore
Tom Flannery followed behind in fifth with a time of 9:51.75, while senior
Andrew Parlette crossed in a time of 9:53.16 to place sixth.
In all, 37 runners completed the course.
