Elmira Takes Home First Place At the Utica College Fall Invitational

Clinton, NY -- The Elmira College men's golf team took home a first place finish at the Utica College Fall Invitational today with an overall score of 311.
Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 finished tied for first overall by tying a career-best 73, but lost medalist honors on the second hole of the play-off to SUNY Canton's Zack Meade.
Scranton carded a 315 for second place, while Stevens finished third turning in a 318 in front of SUNY Canton who tallied a 325. SUNY Cobleskill's A Team placed fifth with a 326 ahead of Utica (343) in sixth and Cobleskill's B Team (347) in seventh.
Elmira's Evan Clarke '15 finished today with a 75 to notch a fourth place finish while
Niall O'Connor '15 posted a career-best 79 to finish tied for eighth.
Dan Gridley '18 competed in his first career tournament and finished with an 84.
Troy Gordon '15 and
Brian Demo '17 both carded an 89 to finish tied for 32nd overall.
Scranton senior Erik Meyer carded a three-over-par 74 to finish third. The Royals also received an 80 from senior Grant Gulick and sophomore Kevin Nardella, 81 from junior Eric Montella and an 86 from senior Josh Jimenez.
Stevens sophomore
Frank Szucs paced the Ducks with a 77 after posting a 37 on the back nine, while freshman
Austin Binder took second on the team in his collegiate debut with a 79. Junior
Justin Niemeier finished third on the team with an 80, and senior
Cameron Hill rounded out the Stevens scoring with an 82.
Freshman
Matthew Haley shot an 84 to lead Utica. Junior captain
Ryan Stalker turned in an 85 shooting a 41 on the front and a 44 on the back to finish second for UC and 25
th overall while classmate
Alex Malta finished 27
th overall with an 86.
