Stevens Tops Naz 6-3

The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team picked up a key Empire 8 win Sunday with a 6-3 victory over Nazareth College.
The win polishes off a perfect 2-0 weekend for the Ducks as they once again overcame the injuries of two starters in senior

Katrina Guido got the Ducks started with an 8-3 win over senior Adrienne Sharza and sophomore Lindsey Crawford. The pair are now 2-0 from that position this season. Nazareth came back with an 8-1 win at No. 2, but sophomores
Allie Masciana and
Jillian Morneau gave the Ducks the doubles lead with an 8-5 win over senior Elizabeth Crane and sophomore Audrey Knorr.
Nazareth rebounded in singles with sophomore Jean McCarthy's 1-6, 6-2, 6-0 win over junior
Julia Guignard, but Bruenjes answered with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Knorr at No. 5. Stewart picked up her second straight singles win a No. 2 the give the Ducks a 4-2 lead before wins from Guido and Masciana clinched the win for Stevens.
Guido moved to a perfect 4-0 in singles and doubles in her rookie season, while Stewart mirrored her perfection with a 4-0 weekend of her own. Masciana also had a successful weekend going 2-0 in singles.
The Ducks will use this coming week to practice and recuperate before they open up the home portion of their schedule next Saturday, Sep. 6 with a match against Utica College before capping the weekend on Sunday against Hartwick College.
