MOOSIC, Pa.—What a difference 48 hours made for The University of Scranton men’s golf team in general and Royal senior Erik Meyer (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) in particular Tuesday afternoon at Glenmaura National Golf Club.

The Royals improved by 23 strokes today, just two days after shooting 320 Tuesday on the same course, and Meyer shaved 11 strokes off his game, firing a one-under-par 70 to earn medalist honors as Scranton downed Marywood University, 297-306, and Wilkes University, 297-362, to improve to 5-2 on the season.

Meyer finished with five birdies and one eagle to edge teammate Ryan Brown (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) by one stroke and junior Eric Montella (Waverly, Pa./Abington Heights) and freshman Warren Rozelle (Clarks Green, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) shot 77 and 79, respectively.  Scranton also received an 81 from freshman Michael Boland(Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and an 82 from senior Josh Jimenez (Apalachin, NY/Seton Catholic Central).

Marywood shaved six strokes off its total today after firing a 313 Tuesday afternoon.  The Pacers were led by Nick Johnsonwith a 72 and Mike ThomasDalton Deardorff, and Devin Crowley shot 73, 78, and 83, respectively.  

Matt Kachurak led the Colonels with an 85.  Joining him were Dalton Milan with a 90, Corey Hauser with a 91, and Matt Williams with a 96.

Scranton’s 297 is its lowest round of the season and tied for the sixth lowest in school history.

The Royals will return to action next Tuesday, September 16, by hosting King’s College and Baptist Bible College at Glenmaura National beginning at 1:00 p.m.
