NAZARETH 3, St. Lawrence 1
Nazareth scored twice in the first half and once in the second half to defeat visiting St. Lawrence 3-1 in a non-conference women's soccer game Friday evening. Senior Ashtin Argentieri, sophomore Michaela Soules, and senior Elizabeth Howell each scored for the Golden Flyers.

It took the Golden Flyers only 5:52 to score their first goal. The scoring chance originated with a free kick opportunity in Nazareth's offensive end toward midfield. Senior Tyler Carr sent the free kick into the Saints' penalty area where it was volleyed between players. Graduate student Christine Belding passed the ball from the right side of the six-yard box to the left side to Argentieri. Argentieri's shot went off a St. Lawrence defender and into the net. Just over 6:30 later, Nazareth stretched its lead to two goals with an unassisted goal from Soules. Soules collected a Saints' turnover in their defensive end and put a hard shot into the left side of St. Lawrence's goal. The Golden Flyers maintained their two-goal lead through the end of the first half.

Eleven minutes into the second half, St. Lawrence was awarded a penalty kick, which Taylor Goldsborough put into the bottom right corner of Nazareth's net to trim the Golden Flyers' lead to one goal. The penalty was given after Nazareth goalkeeper Allison Dobles attempted a sliding tackle to collect a loose ball and took down the Saints' forward.

With 16:55 remaining in regulation, Howell tallied an insurance goal with a shot just over the outstretched finger tips of St. Lawrence goalie Kelsey West. Belding was credited with her second assist of the game on the play.

The Saints finished with a 13-7 advantage in shots, and Dobles tallied three saves to earn the victory. West did not have a save credited to her in the loss. Nazareth finished with a 6-3 advantage in corner kick chances.

ELMIRA 1, Clarkson 0
It took nearly 86 minutes of play for the game's first goal, but Sara Kazerouni '18 could not have picked a better time to score the first goal of her career. Kazerouni's goal with 4:05 to play in the second half lifted the Elmira College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Clarkson University, EC's second consecutive shutout. Also playing a major role in today's win was Gabe Carmona '18 who made 11 saves in net to record her first career shutout.

The first half was a defensive stalemate as neither team had many quality looks at the net, despite a combined 14 shots. Clarkson outshot EC 12-2 in the first half, with seven of those shots on goal, but most of the shots came from beyond the 18-yard box allowing Carmona to make easy work of the Clarkson attempts.

Clarkson came out of the second half with a more offensive approach, which caused a few tense moments on the EC sidelines, but the Soaring Eagle defense adopted the "bend but don't break" philosophy and did enough to thwart the Clarkson attacks. With just over 10 minutes left in the game, the Purple and Gold went on the attack and increased their offensive pressure.

The push paid off as a pair of newcomers in Allie Olsen'16 and Kazerouni linked up for the game-winning goal. Olsen carried the ball down the left sideline right to the edge of the box. From there, she sent a cross to the middle in front of the net and after the goalie missed on her attempt to gather the ball, Kazerouni blasted home the score to put EC ahead 1-0. The Soaring Eagles controlled the final four minutes of play to run out the clock and take the 1-0 victory.

Geneseo 2, ALFRED 0
Freshman keeper Sammy Jo Shanahan recorded 11 saves in a 2-0 loss vs. SUNY Geneseo.

Despite the box score, Friday evening's game was a struggle between two even foes.  The Knight's defense was strong, not allowing a shot on goal the entire game in spite of many AU offensive runs.

During the first stanza of the game Geneseo put seven shots on goal, with Shanahan only allowing one goal in 16th minute.  Geneseo's Jori Semrau found a loose ball in the box and volleyed the ball over the head of the diving Shanahan to put the Knights up 1-0.

The Saxons came out in the second half looking sharp holding the Knights to only one shot on goal until Laurie Knapp broke away from the defense and wrapped a shot around the fingertips of Shanahan putting Geneseo up 2-0.  The Saxons wouldn't go away quietly as they took the ball into the opposing box multiple times.  However, to no avail as the defense parried the ball away.

Montclair 3, STEVENS 0
Over 600 fans came out to the DeBaun Athletic Complex on Friday night to watch the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team take on in-state rival and No. 13 Montclair State University. Stevens (3-2) battled with Montclair State throughout the match but eventually fell 3-0.

Montclair (4-1) jumped right out to a 1-0 lead just 1:21 into the contest off a free kick from 30 yards out. Janae Geonnetti sent a service directly to the middle of the box which was headed into the right corner of the goal by Martina Landeka.

The Red Hawks' tally was the first goal allowed by freshman Lindsey Mahnken (Bayville, N.J.) all season after 270 consecutive minutes without letting one in. Mahnken, last week's Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week and ECAC Upstate Rookie of the Week, made seven saves on the evening.

Stevens had a golden opportunity for the equalizer with 35 minutes left in the half on a cross from senior Ann Heine (Sammamish, Wash.) to sophomore Gabby Mathelier (Pomona, N.Y.). Heine sent the pass to Mathelier on a run down the left side and scored on an open net, but the goal was negated after it was ruled that the ball popped up and hit Mathelier's arm.

The scored remained at 1-0 late in the first half after freshman Megan Lynes (Clovis, Calif.) turned away an open shot for the Red Hawks and notched a team save to keep Stevens' deficit at a goal heading into the break.

Off a corner kick in the 64th minute from senior Mariah Cleveland (Los Gatos, Calif.), sophomore Allison Kopacz (Green Brook, N.J.) settled the ball in space and ripped a strike towards goal but glanced off the left post.

Just four minutes later, Cleveland found herself with an opportunity to beat Montclair's goalkeeper, Gina Policastro, but a Red Hawk defender slid in front of the shot to divert the chance.

Montclair tacked on its second goal of the match on a penalty kick in the 77th minute from Melissa Koster and then put the game out of reach with its third in the 83rd minute from Jennie Hornstra. Hornstra crossed over a Stevens defender on her run and beat Mahnken with a low shot to the left.

It was a chippy contest throughout, as Montclair piled up 16 fouls and two yellow cards. Stevens committed 13 foul with one booking.

Montclair outshot the Ducks, 22-11, and was awarded seven corners to three for Stevens. The 11 shots take by Stevens tie for the most allowed this season by the Red Hawks.
