Ithaca Wins 2014 Women's Golf Championship

The Ithaca College women's golf team posted a season-best round of 317 and won the Empire 8 Championship for the fifth consecutive year, with a team total of 640. All six Ithaca golfers occupied the top-six spots on the individual leaderboard at the end of the tournament, and
Sharon Li won the individual championship with a score of 151. It was Li's third-consecutive conference individual title.
Ithaca's winning score of 640 gave the Bombers a 118-stroke margin of victory over Elmira (758). St. John Fisher finished in third place with a score of 791. Nazareth did not compile a team score.
Li's second-round score of 75 was the best single round of the tournament. She went out with a 2-over-par 38 on the front nine with a birdie on the par-4 ninth. She added another birdie on the back nine, which came on the par-5 17th hole for an inward 37. With her individual title, Li was also named Empire 8 Player of the Year.
Kimberley Wong placed second in the event with a score of 159. After an opening-round 81, Wong posted 79 on Sunday. Wong scored 39 on both the front and back nine, and made a birdie on the par-4 eighth hole.
Kelsey Baker was third overall with a score of 82 in each round for a total of 164. She earned first-team Empire 8 recognition for the fourth time in her career.
Taylor Reeves posted her career-best finish in a full collegiate tournament with a fourth-place showing and a score of 166 on rounds of 84 and 82. Included in Reeves' Sunday round of 82 was a back-nine score of 39 on six pars and three bogeys.
Ithaca's two other lineup members finished fifth and sixth.
Taylor MacDonald was fifth overall with a two-day total of 176 and
Kyra Denish was sixth with a tournament score of 178. MacDonald earned first-team all-conference honors with her fifth-place finish. Denish was Empire 8 Rookie of the Year as the highest-finishing freshman and was on the conference's second team.
Elmira's team score of 758 is their lowest score since 2008 and the Soaring Eagles' second place finish is their best finish in the conference tournament in EC history.
The Soaring Eagles entered the final day of the conference tournament in third place, trailing St. John Fisher College by three strokes. However, Elmira would improve 30 strokes from day one to take second place from the Cardinals by a decisive 33 strokes. Elmira's 30 stroke improvement is their best turnaround in a two-day tournament in over six years.

Audrey Clarke '18 who improved two strokes from day one with a 90 for a two-day total of 182. Teammate
Keira Glasheen '17 also turned in a 90 today for a two-day total of 188. Both Clarke and Glasheen received Empire 8 All-Conference Second Team honors as they finished in eighth and ninth place, respectively. Clarke and Glasheen's All-Conference honors marked the first time in program history that Elmira has had multiple Empire 8 All-Conference recipients in the same year.
Just missing out on Empire 8 All-Conference honors was 11th place finisher
Meghan Fonfara '18 who improved 10 strokes from a day ago to post a 92 for a two-day total of 194. Right behind her in 12th place was
Giovanna DeLoca '17, who made the biggest improvement of any golfer in the tournament as she made-up 11 strokes from her opening round, posting a 92 today for a two-day total of 195.
Elizabeth Paolucci '17 carded a two-day total of 204 as she held steady with a 102 on day two. Newcomer
Cassie Chun '18 improved seven strokes from yesterday's play a she turned in a 114 today.
St. John Fisher senior Ceilia Fitzgerald shot a 99 on Sunday and finished with a two-day total of 191 to place 10th overall, earning a spot on the Empire 8 All-Conference Second Team. Junior
Alexis Juda shot a team-low 98 on Sunday and finished at 196, good for 12th place.
Nazareth senior
Jennifer Lachell finished in seventh-place after day two of the E8 Championship. Lachell recorded a score of 91 on Sunday. With her 89 on Saturday, Lachell tallied a total of 180. Junior
Grace Cardamone also competed. Cardamone was 20th with a combined score of 260. She recorded a score of 133 on Sunday after tallying a 127 on Saturday.
