Nazareth & Ithaca competed at St. Lawrence Fall Classic

The Ithaca College and Nazareth College men's tennis teams competed in the St. Lawrence University Fall Classic on Saturday and Sunday. Three singles flights and two doubles flights were contested, and seven teams were represented.

Jack Melhorn won a first-round match in the A Singles bracket and Brandon Buksbaum won a first-round match in the C Singles bracket. Joey Hanf and Nate Wolf won a consolation bracket match in the B Doubles bracket. Members of the team will compete in the ITA Northeast Regional next weekend, hosted by Hobart in Geneva, N.Y.


In the Singles A Bracket, juniors Scott Trobert and Tyler Williams fell to Matt Billett of Hamilton and Jonny Baker of Rochester, respectively. Trobert fell 8-2 and Williams was defeated 8-5. In the Singles B Bracket, St. Lawrence's Marco Amendola defeated senior Matt Jennings 8-1, and Rochester's Sam Leeman downed sophomore Christian Bryant 8-2. In the Singles C Bracket, Hamilton's Austin Lokre defeated freshman Louis Rogers 8-3. Junior Brian Rosiek also fell at Singles C. Rosiek fell 8-2 to St. Lawrence's Tom Luchars.

At Doubles A Bracket, Williams and Rogers fell to Hamilton's Billett and Oliver by the score of 8-2. In the Doubles B Bracket, Jennings and Rosiek fell to St. Lawrence's Shortz and Russell by the score of 8-1.
