HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Amanda Zacchigna has been named the interim head coach for the Houghton College women's lacrosse program, Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics H. "Skip" Lord announced.

A 2014 Houghton graduate, Zacchigna takes over for Rachael Snelgrove, who will focus solely on coaching field hockey for the Highlanders. Snelgrove will remain as a consultant and advisor for the lacrosse program for the academic year.

Zacchigna was a two-year standout for the Highlanders, tallying 64 goals and eight assists. She also recorded 86 ground balls and 119 draw controls in her career. She had a stellar senior campaign when she led the Highlanders in goals (40), draw controls (42) and caused turnovers (19). Zacchigna was also a four-year member of the women's soccer program.

Current field hockey assistant coach Marissa Meassick will serve as an assistant for the lacrosse program.

"As a two-time captain and stand-out player, Amanda is uniquely qualified to fill this important role on an interim basis," said Lord. "We are tremendously excited about the solution God has provided for this year and look forward to the direction Coach Zacchigna, Coach Meassick and Coach Snelgrove will take us this year."
