Alaina Stojkovski and
Louise Steele-Norton each added a goal for the Pioneers, while
Chasity Eckert chipped in with one assist. Steele-Norton has extended her goal scoring streak to five games for UC. Geneseo dropped to 2-5 overall in the shutout loss.
Junior goalie
Kells Casey made four saves in the victory and she now needs three more wins to tie the school-record for career victories. Casey now has 30 career wins in the blue and orange.
Mackey started the scoring in the 22
nd minute when she netted her conference best ninth goal of the season, unassisted. She also leads the E8 with 20 points and she took the program's all-time points scoring record back from teammate
Louise Steele-Norton. Mackey now has 139 career points, while Steele-Norton has 138.
Stojkovski netted the second Pioneer goal, off an assist from Dowling, in the 23
rd minute to put the Pioneers on top 2-0 in the first half. Stojkovski now has seven points this season on three goals and one assist.
Dowling started the second half scoring with her first of the season. Dowling became the first non-senior to score a goal this year for the Pioneers and she was assisted by Mackey.
Steele-Norton, a 2012 All-American, wrapped up the scoring on the afternoon with her fifth of the season. She is the College's all-time leader with 65 career goals.
The Pioneers outshot the visitors 25-5 on the afternoon and they also earned a 14-4 advantage in penalty corners. Geneseo goalie Dayna Mercer stopped 16 shots in net for the Knights.
ITHACA 2, Oneonta 0
The Ithaca College field hockey team defeated Oneonta Wednesday evening, dropping the Red Dragons by a score of 2-0 at Higgins Stadium. The win pushes Ithaca's record to 2-3 on the season, with an undefeated mark of 2-0 at home.
Goals were scored by seniors
Danielle Coiro and
Natalie Lynch, while sophomore goalkeeper
Katie Lass made nine saves for her second shutout of the season.
Ithaca struck first in the 23rd minute, giving the Bombers a 1-0 advantage. Sophomore
Colleen Keegan-Twombly sent a pass through the goal mouth, where Coiro was waiting to tip home her second goal of 2014. Neither team scored in the remaining minutes of the opening frame, sending the game to the half at 1-0.
Just over three minutes into the second, Ithaca scored again to pull ahead, 2-0. Junior
Caitlin O'Brien sent a pass across the top of the circle, connecting with Lynch on the near side. Lynch sent a long shot through a group of bodies in front, sneaking the ball past the Oneonta goalkeeper and inside the far post.
Oneonta pressured Ithaca for the remainder of the half, but Lass and the Bomber defense held the Red Dragons off the board for the 2-0 victory.
FDU 4, STEVENS 2
The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team fell to 3-4 on the season with a 4-2 loss at the hands of FDU-Florham Wednesday night at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.
FDU controlled the run of play in the early going, out-shooting the Ducks 4-0 to start, but the Ducks slowly gained their footing, eventually scoring the game's first goal in the 20th minute of action. On the play, junior forward
Dailyn Brook positioned herself on the left post, eventually securing a pass from sophomore forward
Taylor Welch and hammering home her fifth of the season.
The Devils answered with 5:15 to play in the opening period when sophomore Kim Davis fed senior Gabriella D'Amico in front. After tying the game at one and holding the Ducks off the board, the Devils (4-2) recorded the first three markers of the second half, getting a pair from senior Niki Ikeda.
After a Stevens timeout quieted the FDU momentum, the Ducks settled back in, getting within two at 53:40 when Welch recorded her third goal of the year. Sophomore midfielder
Nolie Prouty carried into the circle along the right endline and crossed in front. Brook tapped to Welch on the left post, and after controlling, put her shot in the lower-left corner.
The Ducks looked to have fought within one with 5:35 on the clock, but the goal was taken off the board due to a tough call on the shot itself.
Stevens was still able to fight, generating several corners in the final five minutes, but it could not find the back of the net and eventually fell by the 4-2 final.
Brook and Welch each had three points in the loss, and sophomore goalie
Emily Stukenborg was credited with nine denials for the Ducks. FDU keeper Amy Defnet notched seven stops in the win.
The Devils ended with a 21-15 margin in shots and held a slight 11-10 edge in corners.
Rochester 5, HARTWICK 0
The University of Rochester, which sits just outside the NFHCA national top 20 in the "receiving votes" category, stayed unbeaten Wednesday with a 5-0 win over Hartwick College's field hockey team in a match played at Fauver Stadium.
Megan Keil led the Yellowjackets on the day with two goals. Three other Rochester players also tallied.
Michelle Relin handed the hosts the lead roughly six minutes into the game. She tapped in from six yards out for her eighth goal of the season. Callie Fisher assisted.
Less than six minutes later, Keil scored on a backhand and the Yellowjackets' lead was two.
Hartwick keeper
Yanna Boggio and the Hawks' defense would then hold the Jackets scoreless for over thirty minutes of action.
Seven minutes, 43 seconds into the second half Rochester (6-0) finally broke through as Fisher scored on a Gina Cunningham feed. Keil added her second less than eight minutes later as U of R opened up a 4-0 edge.
Cunningham would close out the day's scoring 5:48 from the final horn. Samantha Dow picked up the helper on the play.
Boggio,

Wooster 2, W&J 0
Wooster took a 2-0 lead and it was enough to hold up as they defeated the Washington & Jefferson field hockey team, 2-1, at Cameron Stadium.
With the loss, the Presidents fall to 5-2 on the season while the Fighting Scots even their record at 3-3.
After a scoreless opening 18 minutes, Wooster scored at the 18:33 mark when Claire Moffett finished on a deflection. The Scots led in shots at the half, 6-4.
The guests added on 20 minutes into the second half when Kerry O'Connor finished to the upper left corner after W&J keeper
Morgan Brozena came out to challenge.
Lauren Brown answered back 3:40 later when she directed a long stroke from
Gina Taglieri past Carrie Mount off of a penalty corner. Despite a few chances and a frantic offensive surge down the stretch, W&J could not find the back of the cage again and fell, 2-1.
Thanks to six second-half shots, W&J held a slim, 10-9, advantage on shots.
Amanda Steffey led the Presidents with three shots, while Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week
Allison Morrissey and Brown added two each.
Brozena suffered her first loss of the season, falling to 2-1, while making four saves in the contest.
