E8 Men's Golf Set for First and Second Round

Men's golf teams from around the Empire 8 will head up to New Hartford, N.Y. to compete in the fall portion of the E8 Conference Championship held at Yahnundasis Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 20-21).

The Empire 8 Championship will be decided over four rounds for an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Championship which takes place from May 12-15 in Greensboro, NC. Two rounds of the conference tournament take place this weekend at Yahnundasis and the other two rounds will be played in the spring at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa. in mid-April.

After winning last year's conference title – St. John's Fisher has won nine of the past ten championships - the Cardinals entered the season as the No. 11 ranked team in the nation with three of its 2013-14 All-Empire 8 selections back on the roster.  Head coach Bob Simms' team won last year's title by 26 shots, and with its star-studded lineup back, Fisher certainly has a chance to repeat as champions once again.

Fisher will have to compete against Elmira College, Moravian College, Nazareth College, the University of Scranton, Stevens Institute of Technology, Susquehanna University and Utica College.

Several of the Empire 8's top contenders have taken a step forward throughout the month of September, and if they can elevate their games on the conference's biggest stage this weekend at Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, anything is possible.
