STEVENS 4, Houghton 0
Four different players scored goals as the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team improved to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the Empire 8 with a 4-0 shutout of Houghton College on a perfect Saturday afternoon in Hoboken.

Stevens dominated the first half of play, ending the opening 35 with a 14-2 edge in shots and a 1-0 lead. The Ducks also ended the first half with a 9-0 advantage in penalty corners, keeping the ball deep in the Houghton zone for virtually the entire period.

Stevens went on top 2-0 at 49:10 when sophomore Taylor Welch tallied her fourth marker of the year on the back of assists from Brook and Alvarez. On the play, Brook crossed in front to Alvarez, who touched to Welch on the left post for the goal.

Just 2:50 later, Stevens' lead went to 3-0 when Brook pocketed her sixth of the season via a rebound, and the final tally came 3:37 later when Alvarez put home her team-high seventh after a scramble off the right post following a pair of Piszker saves.

The Ducks finished with a 40-5 margin in shots and a 19-0 edge in penalty corners. Sophomore goalie Emily Stukenborg made four saves to earn her fourth win of the season, while Alvarez finished with four points. Brook added three for the Ducks in the win.
