MXC Results from Yellow Jacket, Highlander and Stockton Invite
YELLOW JACKET INVITATIONAL
Men's results
Ithaca, Nazareth, St. John Fisher and Utica competed at the Yellowjacket Invitational at Genesee Valley Park. The Bombers placed third out of 24 teams, followed by the Pioneers (9th), Golden Flyers (18th), Cardinals (12th) and Utica (13th).
Junior
Sawyer Hitchcock led the Bombers with a time of 26:21.2, finishing third overall out of 167 competitors on the eight-kilometer course. Next to cross the finish line for Ithaca was sophomore
Sean Phillips. Phillips completed the race in 26:49.0 earning an 11th place finish overall. Junior
Stephen Gomez and senior
Dennis Ryan finished 18th and 24th overall. Gomez clocked a time of 27:01.7 and Ryan 27:07.3.
UC was guided by sophomore
Josh Lee who placed first for Utica and 31st overall, out of 281 runners, clocking a time of 27:18. Junior
Kyle Cairns and sophomore
Erik Winberg placed second and third for the Pioneers, just one second apart, as the duo finished 43
rd and 44th overall with times of 27:40 and 27:41. Senior Jaime McNamara cross the line in 77
th place with a watch of 28:41 while junior Corey Zlatiniski rounded out the UC scoresheet in 82
nd place, clocking a time of 28:49.
In his fourth collegiate race,
Alex Schmitt led Fisher in the eight-kilometer race in 28:32.5, good for 74th place. Senior
Evan Magnussen made another strong showing, just trailing Schmitt at 79th place with a 28:45.1 time.
Dan Cleary and freshmen duo
James Felice and
Luke Dunkelberg were the other top-five finishers for Fisher.
Nazareth freshman
Kevin Witt was Nazareth's top individual with a 76th-place finish, covering the 8-kilometer course in 28:38.6. Sophomore
Matt Battaglia was nexy in 107th place (30:17.4). Other runners were Partrick Neureuter in 116th place (30:41.9);
Jacob Murray in 124th place (31:31.6); Tom Lannon in 128th place (31:51.4); Kris Newell in 132nd place (32:13.5) and
Ethan Osborne in 141st place (33:08.2). Rensselaer's Jacob Andrews won the race in 26:13.7.
HIGHLANDER INVITATIONAL
The Alfred University men's cross country team placed third of eight teams competing Saturday at the Houghton College Invitational. The host Highlanders took fourth place.
Sophomore
Kevin Dixon was the Saxons' top runner, completing the five-mile course in 27:18, good for third place. His time beat his personal best by 12 seconds. Freshman
Alexander Kenney was 12
th in 29:07; and sophomore
Luke Tesoriero was 14
th in 29:14.
Luke DeBoer led the way for Houghton with a 29:17.52 finish, giving him the 16
th spot overall.
RICHARD STOCKTON INVITATIONAL
Results
The Stevens Institute of Technology men's cross country team placed third overall out of 12 programs at the Richard Stockton Invitational in Galloway, N.J. on Saturday.
Stevens totaled 90 points to narrowly edge Division II Goldey-Beacom College by six points for third. The College of New Jersey won the meet with 20 points, while DII Molloy College placed second with 69 points.
The Ducks averaged a time of 27:36.2 on the 8K course. Stevens rested a majority of its top runners and entered just two of its top five in the race. Those competitors that participated on Saturday all placed within the first 30 scoring runners out of 109.
Senior
Thomas Cunningham paced Stevens with a time of 26:31.1 to take sixth individually.
Freshman
Greg Arabagian scored 16 points and finished 19th overall in 27:34.2, while senior
Nicholas Chapel placed 22nd and 17th in scoring with a time of 27:40.3.
Junior
Zach McKeehan clocked a time of 27:58.4 to place 21st (27th overall). Senior
Kevin Barresi rounded out Stevens' top five in 30th (37th overall) with a time of 28:16.8.
