WXC Competes at Yellow Jacket, Highlander and Stockton Invite
YELLOW JACKET INVITATIONAL
Women's results
Ithaca, Nazareth, St. John Fisher and Utica competed at the Yellowjacket Invitational at Genesee Valley Park. The Bombers placed fifth out of 22 teams, followed by the Golden Flyers (10th), Cardinals (12th) and Utica (13th).
Ithaca junior
Anna Fay led the Bombers squad in 24:17.8, placing 23rd out of 151 competitors in the six-kilometer run. Graduate student
Allison Bartkowiak and senior
Anastasia Diamond finished 36th and 39th overall with times of 24:33.6 and 24:40.2. Seniors
Hannah Wright and
Emily Smith crossed the finish line at 24:45.1 and 24:52.2. The veterans were palced 41st and 48th overall.
Nazareth was paced by junior
Gabrielle LeBihan, who placed ninth in 23:32.1. Sophomore
Emily Thompson was next in 30th place (24:10.1), followed by freshman
Kimmy Lovett in 67th place (25:19.6), sophomore
Jamie DiSalvo in 74th place (25:32.6) and junior
Blair Meeson in 77th place (25:41.6). Other competitors were senior
Michaela Gildemeyer in 87th place (26:08.4) and freshman
Andrea Larnard in 103rd place (27:07.7).
For the fourth consecutive race,
Sammy Van Gee led Fisher, finishing 24th among 283 runners at the Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday. Van Gee completed the six-kilometer course in 24:18.4 while Fisher tallied 356 points for 12th place.
Katlin Shippy trailed VanGee for Fisher's second runner, coming in 43rd place at 24:47.2.
The Pioneers were led by junior standout
Ashton Villeneuve who placed 20th
overall with a clock of 24:09, good enough for an average mile of 6:29. Freshman
Makenna Cooley finished second for UC and 60th overall with a final time of 25:19 followed by junior
Samantha Bennett who crossed the finish line in 75
th place and third for Utica with a watch of 25:49.
HIGHLANDER INVITATIONAL
Houghton hosted the Highlander Invitational on Saturday and the field also featured Alfred University and Elmira College. The Highlanders won the race with 50 points, while the Saxons took fourth and the Soaring Eagles finished sixth as a team.
Alfred sophomore
Mary Baughman took first place as she completed the five-kilometer course in a course-record 18:57 for her third win of the season. Freshman
Lindsay Piraino was fourth in 20:08 and freshman
Teresa Fallon was 25
th (23:08).
Houghton's
Joanna Friesen placed second overall with a time of 19:45.97.
Cara Davenport, with a time of 21:00.75 and
Christel Enriquez-Fisher, 21:08.57 respectfully came close behind to carry their team to first place in the 5k run.
Elmira freshman
Hannah Lundgren completed the course with a time of 21:20.36 to place 12th overall. Following Lundgren was
Julia Ashey '17 who posted a time of 23:27.25 to finish 30th.
Renée Henck '18 and
Shannon Dole '17 finished back-to-back in 32nd and 33rd, respectively. Henck finished with a time of 23:34.87 while Dole checked-in with a 23:41.08.
RICHARD STOCKTON INVITATIONAL
Results
The Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country team finished third as a squad out of nine schools at the Richard Stockton Invitational on Saturday.
Stevens tallied 92 points with an average time of 25:24.8 on the 6K course. The College of New Jersey took top honors with 21 points, while Richard Stockton finished as the runners-up with 61.
The Ducks only entered two of their top runners, but those who competed finished in the top 33 out of 80 participants.
Junior
Kate Moyer guided Stevens in fourth overall in 23:09.7 and was just three seconds from taking the runner-up spot.
Senior
Christine Hecker placed 12th in scoring and 14th overall in 24:36.4, while freshman
Lauren Logan completed the course in 24th (20th in scoring) with a time of 25:46.
Junior
Janice Frontera clocked in at 25:51.6 to finish 28th (23rd in points). Freshman
Katrina Brodecki (Media, Pa.) rounded out the Stevens competitors in 45th position (33rd) with a time of 27:42.2.
