Heinrich Advances To ITA Semifinals, Heinrich/Foran Advance In Doubles

GENEVA, N.Y. (September 21, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team advanced junior
Matthew Heinrich in singles and junior
Ben Foran and Heinrich in doubles Sunday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional.
The three day tournament is taking place on the campus of Hobart College.
Top seeded Heinrich started the winning with a 6-0. 6-2 win over Skidmore College's Steven Koulouris before defeating freshman teammate
Danny Polk 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. The wins advanced Heinrich to tomorrow's semifinal where he'll face Nick Litsky of Vassar College.
The wins bring Heinrich's record to 8-1 on the fall season in singles.
Heinrich carried over the momentum to doubles where the junior teamed with Foran for an 8-6 win over Skidmore. The duo trailed 4-1 in the match but rattled off four straight games before completing the 8-6 win. An 8-5 win over the University of Rochester followed to send the Stevens juniors to tomorrow's final.
The doubles finals appearance is a first for Stevens men's tennis.
