Fisher Falls to Rochester
The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team fell 4-1 Tuesday at the University of Rochester in non-conference action.
Nicolette Nigro scored the lone goal for Fisher in the loss.
Fisher falls to 2-7 overall while Rochester improves to 4-2-2 on the year.
The home team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, scoring back-to-back goals less than one minute apart. Caroline Manent scored off a corner kick in the 13
th minute to put the Yellowjackets on top. Just :55 seconds later Paige Gloster collected a loose ball and slotted it into the corner to push the lead to 2-0.
Just over 10 minutes later Rochester capitalized on another opportunity to open up a 3-0 lead. The score would remain that way going into the break.
Rochester added its second goal off a corner kick in the 57
th minute to go up 4-0.
Fisher, however was able to break through in the 78
th minute as
Nicolette Nigro netted her first collegiate goal with a shot from 30-yards out into the top corner.
Carly Finn assisted on the play.
Rochester held an 11-7 advantage in shots during the game.
Brooke Seavitt made six saves in net for the Cardinals.
Fisher returns to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday we it will host East Avenue rival Nazareth College to open up Empire 8 play.
