HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 24, 2014) – Stevens Institute of Technology junior
Carson Pryor scored three goals Wednesday night in a dominating 5-0 win over Manhattanville College in Hoboken.
The win was the third straight for Stevens as it rose its record to 5-3-0. The loss dropped Manhattanville to 3-5-0.
The Ducks started their first half offensive explosion in the 16
th minute with Pryor's first goal. Sophomore
Jay Mikula took control off a misplayed ball from the goalie and sent a pass to the cutting Pryor who fired it into the open goal. The score was Pryor's third of the season.
Pryor added another score shortly after off a pass from senior Quinn Connor. On the play, Manhattanville junior goalie Steve Singson again misplayed the ball where senior Quinn Connor took advantage, and sent a pass to Pryor who knocked in his second score of the game.
Less than three minutes later, Stevens again added to its lead off a goal from junior
Colin Phillips. Dribbling up the right side of the field, Mikula centered a pass to Phillips who found the back of the net for the second time this season.
The Ducks defense in the half mirrored their offense, keeping pressure off sophomore goalie Mike Rena who made the save on the only shot to reach the goal.
The second half saw the same Ducks pressure before they added to their lead in the 64
th minute. After sophomore
Chris Renna's shot rebounded off the crossbar, Pryor kicked it in to give him the hat-trick and the Ducks a four goal lead. Stevens padded the lead again toward the end of the half when junior
Joe Cellitti took advantage of Singson dropping the ball in front of the net where the junior tapped it in for the 5-0 lead.
The shutout was the third straight for Renna and the Ducks defense as they allowed only two shots to reach goal the entire game. The three goals gives Pryor five on the season, while Mikula's assist total rose to four.
