Brown Shoots Career-Low Round of 71 To Earn Medalist Honors
WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—Junior
Ryan Brown (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) shot a one-over-par 71 to earn medalist honors for The University of Scranton men’s golf team Wednesday afternoon at the Wyoming Valley Country Club.
The Royals topped Wilkes University, 314-323, but lost by seven strokes to King’s College, 314-307.
Seniors
Grant Gulick (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City) and
Erik Meyer (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) and sophomore
Kevin Nardella (Spring Brook Township, Pa./North Pocono) rounded out the Royals’ top four scores with 78, 79, and 86, respectively. Scranton, now 1-1 on the season, also received an 88 from sophomore
Eddie Hughes (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) and a 92 from freshman
Frank Argenti (East Islip, NY).
Matt Kachurak of Wilkes and Corey Palma of King’s tied for second with a 76, followed by the King’s trio of Shamus Gartley, Ryan Georgetti, and Tony Morrash with 77s.
Brown’s previous career-low round was a score of 72 against Wilkes University at Huntsville Golf Club in Dallas, Pennsylvania, on April 7, 2014.
The Royals will return to action next Tuesday, September 9, against King’s, Elizabethtown College, and Misericordia University at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic beginning at 1:00 p.m.
