ALFRED 2, Pitt-Bradford 0
Matthew Unick and the Saxon defense shut out the Pitt-Bradford Panthers as the offense scored two goals.

It was an overall team effort for the AU men's soccer team during Tuesday afternoon's game.  The offense barraged the Panthers with 13 shots on goal while the defense only allowed three shots on goal.

Sophomore Richard Lander refused to be denied a goal, shooting six times in the game.  He netted his first goal of the season in the 38th minute on a shot from deep outside the box putting the Saxons up 1-0 late in the first half.

Following half time the Saxons continued to be aggressive taking 11 shots with Lander leading the charge.  However, it was Omar Mohamed who increased the lead with just 20 minutes left in the game when Jeff Thomas sent a ball across the face of the net and Mohamed headed the ball past the Panther's keeper, Colin Frownfelter.

Unick finished the game with three saves behind his solid defense to maintain his second shutout in a row.

UTICA 2, SUNYIT 2 (2OT)
The Utica College men's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit by scoring two goals in the final 5:43 of regulation to earn a 2-2 tie against host SUNYIT on Wednesday night.

Trailing 2-0 late in the contest, Utica's Shane Ruffing headed home his sixth goal of the season at 84:17 to cut the Pioneers' deficit in half.  Senior Chris Stashko added the equalizer on a penalty kick for the Pioneers just 3:54 later to knot the score at 2-2 with 1:49 left in regulation.

Both teams were held scoreless over the course of two ten minute overtime periods and the contest ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Pioneers remain unbeaten and they are now 2-0-1 overall.  UC has outscored its opponents 9-2 on the season.  SUNYIT rebounded from a 3-2 loss to Purchase last weekend and the Wildcats' record moved to 0-1-1 overall.

Stashko finished the night with the penalty kick goal and he also assisted Ruffing's goal on a free kick in the 85th minute.  Stashko currently ranks second on the team with five points this season (team-high three assists).

Ruffing kept his hot start alive and he now has a team-best six goals this season, tying his career-high which he set in 2013.  Ruffing's 38 career points (17 goals, four assists) rank fifth all-time at UC and his 17 career goals put him in sole possession of fourth all-time in goals scored.

Utica goalie David Abdou, the Empire 8 Conference's reigning defensive player of the week, made seven saves on the afternoon, while SUNYIT net minder Jesse Yanarella made four saves.

SUNYIT took the early 2-0 lead behind a goal each from Kafou Doumbia and C.J. Dean in the first 26:59 of the contest.  Nick McBride and Kyle Baker each recorded an assist for the home team.

SUNYIT outshot the Pioneers 19-10 on the afternoon and earned a convincing 15-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Pioneers are 9-2-1 against SUNYIT dating back to 2003 and UC has shut out the Wildcats in six of those 12 meetings. The Pioneers have outscored the Wildcats 26-8 in the last 12 meetings.

ST. JOHN FISHER 0, Brockport 2 (2OT)
The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team played to a 0-0 overtime-draw against The College of Brockport on Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Josh Klein made four saves in goal, including a key save in the final minutes, against the Golden Eagles who fired a total of 19 shots at him. Fisher tallied eight shots, three of which were on goal.

The Cardinals move to 1-1-1 on the season without facing any Empire 8 competitor thus far, while the Golden Eagles are 1-0-2.

King's 3, ELMIRA 0
The Elmira College men's soccer team (0-1-0) played the Monarchs of King's College (3-0-0) to a 0-0 tie through the first 45 minutes of today's game but would surrender three second half goals, resulting in a 3-0 loss in EC's season opener.

King's held the advantage in shots, outshooting the Soaring Eagles 20-5.  Of Elmira's five shots, one was truly a golden opportunity as Chris Aristizabal fired a shot from 20 yards out, only to see opposing goalkeeper Tyler Wilson make a full-extension save to keep things even through the first 4:50 of play. The Monarchs on the other hand had several quality scoring opportunities, but third-year goalkeeper Austin Mansell did well to come up with three of his game's six saves to keep King's scoreless in the first half.

With a 0-0 score at halftime, Elmira looked to continue what had gotten them to a scoreless first half which was EC's possession style of play.  However, in the second half, an ill-placed header by Elmira's back line allowed for King's reserve Chris Nygren to find the upper right corner of the goal on a blast from 25 yards out, giving the Monarchs a 1-0 lead at the 47:16 mark.

King's took a 2-0 lead in the 65th minute when a misplayed ball inside the Elmira box gave Daniel Hernandez the opportunity to bury one.  Less than five minutes later, the Monarchs made it 3-0 after the Soaring Eagles thought they forced an offsides call, which was not the case as Korbin Keene finished off a cross from the right side of the box for a goal.

William Paterson 3, STEVENS 1
The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team gave up two goals in the second half Wednesday night in a 3-1 loss to William Paterson University.

The loss drops Stevens to 0-2-0 while William Paterson moved to 1-1-0.

The Pioneers gained the early 1-0 edge just 48 second into the game when senior Omar Jallow connected on a shot that bounced off the crossbar and in. The Ducks responded with three unanswered shots including two on net, but none were able to find the back of the net.

The Ducks missed on one more shot before junior Carson Pryor broke through with a goal in the 40th minute to tie the game at one. On the play, the Pioneers attempted to make a backward pass to the goalie, but Pryor pressured the ball, gained control, and tapped it in for his first goal of the season.

Stevens outshot the Pioneers 5-3 in the first half, tallying three corner kicks.

William Paterson regained the lead in the 54th minute when junior Carlos Arevalo connected with the right side of the goal off a pass from Jallow. Less than 10 minutes later, Jallow added to his hot game with a goal in front of the box off a pass from junior Juan Londono to make it 3-1.

Two more Stevens shots from Pryor and junior Colin Phillips went high in the final 15 minutes, giving William Paterson the 3-1 win.

The Ducks totaled eight shots including four on goal, and Pryor's goal in the first half was his fourth in the team's last six games dating back to last season.
