Royals End Fall Campaign With 4th-Place Finish At Anthracite Invite

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—The University of Scranton men’s golf team ended its fall campaign with a fourth-place finish at the Anthracite Invitational at the Wyoming Valley Country Club Monday afternoon.
The defending champion Royals were led by junior
Eric Montella (Waverly, Pa./Abington Heights) with a 79, which tied him for 8th place in the individual standings.
Scranton also received an 82 from senior
Erik Meyer (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), an 83 from sophomore
Steven Lambrinakos (Stamford, Conn./Trinity Catholic), an 84 from senior
Grant Gulick (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City), and an 85 from sophomore
Kevin Nardella(Spring Brook Township, Pa./North Pocono).
Marywood University’s Michael Thomas shot a one-over-par 72 to edge out teammate Nicholas Johnson by one stroke to win the individual title. The Pacers, who also received a 75 from Daltoon Deardorff, shot 305 to capture the team championship, 11 strokes better than King’s College (316). Wilkes University was third (317), followed by Scranton (328) and Keystone College (338).
Montella’s 79 was his second lowest round of the season.
