Alfred blanks Fredonia in non-league action
ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team claimed a 9-0 decision from visiting Fredonia Tuesday afternoon.
AU (4-5) swept the three doubles matches. Sophomore
Rachel Cook (Youngstown, OH/Laurel Springs) and junior
Emma Jackson (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) won first doubles, 8-2; seniors
Brennan Ferguson (Destrechan, LA/Ursuline) and
Emily Eisenberg (Oyster Bay, NY/Oyster Bay) took second doubles, 8-3; and senior
Betsy Clark (Webster, NY/Bishop Kearney) and freshman
Sarah Grace (Rochester, NY/Penfield) won third doubles, 8-3.
The Saxons also won each of six singles matches. Ferguson won first singles, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6; Cook won second singles, 6-1, 6-1; Jackson won took third singles, 6-3, 6-1; Eisenberg won fourth singles, 6-0, 6-2; junior
Kallie Clapper (Conklin, NY/Susquehanna Valley) won fifth singles, 6-3, 6-1; and senior
Courtney Smith (Norwood, NY/Potsdam) won sixth singles, 6-1, 6-1.
AU is in action next on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. at home against St. John Fisher.
