Geneseo 3, NAZARETH 1
Nazareth's women's soccer team, a recent entrant to the national rankings, suffered its first defeat of the season Thursday as host Geneseo built a 3-0 lead before settling for a 3-1 victory over the Golden Flyers.

After recording a pair of shutout wins over the weekend, Nazareth vaulted to 21st in the most recent Division III rankings released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Golden Flyers dropped to 2-1 overall after the Geneseo loss. The Knights remained unbeaten at 3-0.

The game was even statistically with Geneseo holding a slim edge in shots (14-13), while Nazareth had a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks. The game was scoreless until less than two minutes remained in the first half when Geneseo's Emily Green scored off an assist from Leah Greene. The Knights added two more goals early in the second half to build an insurmountable lead. Kelsey Raschke and Stephanie Clookey were credited with the goals.

Nazareth scored in the 69th minute as freshmen Rachel Dise and Paige Sullivan combined for the goal. It was the first career goal for Dise and the first career point for Sullivan. Junior Mackenzie Dunphy played all 90 minutes in goal and made five saves.


Brockport 2, ST. JOHN FISHER 1
The St. John Fisher College women's soccer squad was unable to rally from two goals down, falling 2-1 to The College at Brockport in its home-opener on Thursday afternoon for the Golden Challenge For A Pink Cure Tournament. Fisher falls to 1-2 on the year, while Brockport remains undefeated at 3-0.
 
The Golden Eagles opened the scoring in the 27th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Chelsea Stahl took a header from Cayli Carmona and shot the one-timer past Fisher goalkeeper Brooke Seavitt.

Fisher nearly equalized in the 38th minute as Nicolette Nigro took a pass from Taryn Guinta, hitting a one-time shot off the crossbar. Brockport led 1-0 at the break.
 
Brockport extended its lead to 2-0 at in the 57th minute as Carmona ripped a shot for the right side of the box to the far post.
 
Fisher nearly got on the board again in the 63rd minute as Nigro's shot was tipped by the keeper off the crossbar and then cleared away.
 
The Cardinals eventually broke through in the 84th minute as Molly Beaton registered her first goal of the season.

Seavitt registered five saves in net for the Cardinals.
