BOX SCORE

The field hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision in its home-opener against No. 18 SUNY Cortland on Friday evening.

The Red Dragons took an early lead, scoring their first goal at the 30-minute mark off of a corner. Cortland continued to dominate on offense, tallying 16 shots over Fisher's seven through the first half.

Cortland doubled up Fisher 2-0 at the 28:35 mark of the first half. Fisher, however, responded just over one minute later as Elizabeth Cusack registered her second goal of the season, taking it from midfield all the way in for an unassisted tally.
The scored would remain 2-1 going into the half.
The Red Dragons opened the scoring once again in the second half, taking a 3-1 lead. Fisher's Liz Baldwin soon responded with her first goal of the year to pull within 3-2, however that is as close as the Cardinals would get.
Cortland notched its fourth and final goal in the 53rd minute to seal the victory.
Danielle Famolaro made her fourth start in goal, tallying 14 saves. Cortland outshot Fisher 30-14 in the game.
Fisher, now 2-2, takes a week off and returns at 11 a.m. on Saturday September 13, hosting Stevens Institute of Technology for the first Empire 8 Conference matchup of the season.
