ALFRED 7, Canton 1
Mariana Crevison scored a hat trick to lead the AU women's soccer team past the SUNY Canton Kangaroos 7-1.

The Saxons scored early and often during Saturday evening's game, with the first goal coming within the first minute of the game by the foot of Crevison who dribbled through the Kangaroo defense to put the Saxons up 1-0.  However,  Canton answered back with a quick goal when Fran Trombley scored on a hard shot after breaking away from the Alfred defense.

The game went on as a defensive affair for nearly seven minutes until Lauren Wyant sent a corner kick across the mouth of the goal and found junior Rachel Ball who sent the ball past the SUNY Canton keeper, Liz Lynch.  Lynch would end the game with eight saves.

Once again the solid defensive play resumed, until the 30th minute when the Alfred offense opened up on the Kangaroos.  Rachel Houghton was the first to strike on a flick header when fellow freshman Ursula Hillman sent a long free kick into the box to put  the Saxons up 3-1.  Soon after, Crevison found the back of the net again with a header on an assist from a Lauren Wyant corner.  Delaney Martin was the last to join the scoring parade in the first half with less than 3 minutes to go.  The Saxons would go into the half leading 5-1.

It seemed as the Saxons would pick up right where they left off in the first half when Keturah Gordon sent a rocket into the box that was deflected by the Kangaroo defense and went over the head of the fleeting Lynch only six minutes into the half.  However, SUNY Canton was able to silence the Saxon attack until the 86th minute when Crevison capped off a fantastic game with her third goal of the evening.

Sammy Jo Shanahan finished the game with seven saves.

STEVENS 1, Vassar 0
The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team recorded its second-straight shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over Vassar College in the first match of the 11th Annual Engineering Cup.

The Ducks (2-1) put together a few scoring chances in the opening five minutes of play, but were unable to beat Vassar (1-1) goalkeeper, Emma Nichols. Freshman Megan Lynes  took the first open opportunity for Stevens only to watch Nichols make a diving save and sent the ball off the post to set up a corner kick. Off the corner, sophomore Raba Nassif headed the service towards net but a Vassar defender denied the attempt on the goal line.

Lynes ripped another shot for the Ducks with just under 11 minutes to go in the half that glanced off the cross bar and kept the match at a 0-0 deadlock.

Stevens finally got on the board when senior Ann Heine notched the game-winner in the 65th minute off a corner kick. Heine's initial shot was saved, but she came away with the loose ball and beat Nichols for her first goal of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Mahnken picked up her second win in as many games with four saves in all 90 minutes of action.

The Ducks dominated the shot category, 33-11, and took four more corners than the Brewers, 6-2.

NAZARETH 2, Brockport 1
Nazareth scored goals late in the first half and early in the second Saturday and the Golden Flyers held on to take a 2-1 non-conference women's soccer victory over Brockport in a game played at St. John Fisher's Growney Stadium. The game was the first half of a doubleheader for breast cancer awareness called A Golden Challenge for a Pink Cure Tournament. St. John Fisher hosts Geneseo in the second game.

Nazareth, ranked 21st nationally by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, improved to 3-1 overall while Brockport lost for the first time and also stands at 3-1. Nazareth dominated statistically with sizeable advantages in shots (29-7) and corner kicks (8-0). The game remained scoreless, though, until the last minute of the first half as freshman Rachel Dise scored her second goal in as many games as she converted a pass from sophomore Michaela Soules.

The Golden Flyers scored again in the first four minutes of the second half as junior Briana Vibbard also scored for the second time this season as she kicked in a rebound of her own shot that had caromed off the goal post.

Brockport scored just over four minutes later on an unassisted goal by Stephanie Drago. Sophomore Allison Dobles played all 90 minutes in goal for Nazareth and was credited with two saves. Laura Thompson played goal for Brockport and had 14 saves.

HARTWICK 3, UMass-Dartmouth 0
Freshman Casey Boucher tallied twice to lead Hartwick to a 4-1 win over UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday in the opening round of the Mayor's Cup at Elmore Field. Boucher, who has now scored in her first three collegiate games, tallied to give the Hawks the lead for good 2:43 into the match. She added Hartwick's third goal early in the second half.

Boucher gave 'Wick the advantage after UMass-Dartmouth keeper Madison Boucher had run out to the top of her 18-yard box to make a clearance. The ball came to Boucher 35 yards and she blasted a ball back into an open goal for the 1-0 edge.

The game remained 1-0 for the next 36 minutes. Freshman Allie Ricci served a ball into the box from the right sideline. The ball fell perfectly in front of goal to Cami Cleaveland who headed past Boucher to increase the Hawks' lead to two.

Ten minutes, 26 seconds into the second half, the Hawks would all but put the game away with their third tally. Following a service into the Corsair box, a scramble for the ball ensued. Boucher collected it, and buried it low to the far post past reserve keeper Nikki Butts.

With just over 10 minutes to play, freshman Brooke Wojciechowski made it four. Allyson Daniels started the play serving a corner kick to the near post. Wojciechowski got to the ball first and finished for her first goal in a Hartwick jersey.

UMass-Dartmouth would spoil Hartwick's shutout bid 3:40 from the final horn. Kayli Berche scored the Corsairs' goal, putting the ball past 'Wick's Alley Maurer.

Hartwick held a slight edge in shots for the match, 10-7. 'Wick also earned six of seven corners in the contest.

Annie Millar started in goal for the Hawks and made two saves. Maurer played in the second half and made one stop.

Geneseo 1, ST. JOHN FISHER 0
The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team fell in the closing seconds, 1-0 , on Saturday to visiting Geneseo in the Golden Challenge For a Pink Cure Tournament held at Growney Stadium.

After outshooting Fisher 18-4 in the game, the Knights were able to break through the defense with just eight seconds left on the clock.  Kelsey Raschke sent a pass from the right flank to the far post where Erin Froehlich scored the game-winner.

Fisher's best opportunity of the game came just before halftime when Kristen Zimmer saw a shot from the eighteen yard box sale just wide of the net.

Brooke Seavitt tied a career-high with 13 saves.
