STEVENS 1, NYU 0
The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team claimed the 2014 Engineering Cup with a 1-0 shutout win over New York University on Sunday at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

Stevens (3-1) has now won eight Engineering Cup titles in its 11-year existence and notched the team's third consecutive shutout of the season.

NYU (2-2) threatened early with the first scoring opportunity off a corner just 2:45 into the contest. A service into the box set up a header attempt for Sofia Toohey, but freshman Megan Lynes was waiting on the goal line to deflect the shot away from goal.

The Ducks gained a 1-0 advantage just seconds into the 13th minute on a solid left-footed strike from sophomore Allison Kopacz from 20 yards out which was the eventual game-winner. Kopacz made a quick turn to free up space and sent her shot into the top left corner for her first goal on the year.

Stevens made the best of its scoring chances in the first half, as the Ducks took just two shots.

The Violets put together another chance for an equalizer with 17 minutes to go in the opening half from point blank range, but freshman Lindsey Mahnken made a sprawling save to preserve the shutout.

Mahnken tallied a career-high eight saves in her third straight shutout and victory of the season. The freshman came up clutch again late in the second half as she snatched a chip shot out of the air with one hand with 13 minutes left in regulation.

At the end of regulation, NYU finished the match with 20 shots, compared to 13 for the Ducks. The Violets were also awarded more corners, 6-3.

ITHACA 2, Farmingdale 0
The Ithaca College women's soccer team (3-0) defeated Farmingdale Sunday afternoon, dropping the Rams by a score of 2-0 at Carp Wood Field.

Junior Kelsey King and sophomore Jess Demczar scored for the Bombers; while junior goalkeeper Beth Copppolecchia moved to 3-0 after stopping all four shots she faced for her third-consecutive shutout to start the season.

King scored the first goal of the contest, netting her third of the season at 12:30 of the opening half. King collected the ball at the far side of the Farmingdale net, beating out three Rams on the play. King broke free and sent a shot past the Farmingdale goalkeeper for the 1-0 advantage. Coppolecchia turned away two Farmingdale shots in the frame, sending Ithaca to the half with the lead.

The Bombers struck again in the final two minutes of play, as Demczar converted on a direct free kick just outside the Farmingdale box. Demczar's goal marked her first of the season, and secured the 2-0 victory for Ithaca. King's game-winning goal marked her third of the season, the most in the Empire 8.

TCNJ 6, HARTWICK 0
The College of New Jersey Lions, ranked eleventh in the country in the latest NSCAA poll, defeated Hartwick's women's soccer team 6-0 on Sunday at Oneonta State's Red Dragon Field in the final game of the 2014 Mayor's Cup. The loss drops the Hawks from the unbeaten ranks. They are now 3-1 overall.
