Stevens Advances Three In Stony Brook Invitational

September 5, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team saw junior Matthew Heinrich, junior Ben Foran, and sophomore Michael Feldman advance past day one of the Stony Brook Invitational.
 
The Ducks are the only Division III team represented in the seven team field comprised of Quinnipiac University, University of Connecticut, Farleigh Dickinson University, Hofstra University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Stony Brook University.
 
Heinrich and Foran teamed at "A" flight doubles to gain an 8-4 opening round win against Stony Brook's sophomore tandem of Raphael Termat and Tyler Hoffman. The duo then took things a step further with an 8-5 win over Quinnipiac to send them to tomorrow's semifinal. Sophomore Michael Feldman and freshman Danny Polk advanced as well to the second round with an 8-3 win over FDU before falling 8-4 to Stony Brook.
 
Sophomore Charles Drake and freshman Kyle Henry also competed in "A" flight, falling 8-3 to NJIT while freshman David Schulz and sophomore Antonio Perich fell in the "B" flight to Stony Brook 8-4.
 
Heinrich continued his winning ways in "A" flight singles, beating NJIT junior Andres Alban 8-5 in the first round before an 8-2 win in the second over Quinnipiac to send him to the semifinals on Saturday. Feldman followed suit in the "B" flight with an 8-5 win over UCONN followed by an 8-4 win in round two to advance him to the semis.
 
Freshman Kyle Henry and William Persson advanced out of the first round in flights "C" and "D" respectively, but both fell in round two to players from Stony Brook.
