CLAREMONT, Calif. (January 9, 2015) – The No. 11 Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team defeated No. 23 Pomona-Pitzer, 141-121, in a tightly contested dual-meet Friday in Claremont, Calif. as part of the Ducks' Winter Training Trip.
Late in the action, the Ducks earned comeback wins in three events to propel them to their second dual-meet win of the year (2-0).
The first of the three comebacks came from junior
Ravi Sun who erased a deficit in the final 25-yards of the 200-yard backstroke to win the event with a time of 1:55.84. Joining Sun in the top-three was freshman
Ethan Gehenio who finished third thanks to a 1:59.14.
Rookie
James Betz came back to win the 500-yard freestyle in the final 50, taking it on the back of a 4:48.90. Sophomore Conner Arnott and freshman
Connor Harrigan placed third and fourth, clocking times of 4:54.01 and 4:54.92.
Sun came back in the 400-yard IM, turning it on late to take first place by a wide margin with a 4:14.01. Harrigan was fourth, clocking a 4:24.74.
The final event of the meet was the 400-yard freestyle and despite the Ducks having things in hand, the team of Gehenio, senior

Joshua Lefeber and junior
Tomasz Wolinski turned in a strong performance. The group tallied a 3:10.69 which was good for first by a slim .12 seconds.

Brennan Maxwell and Wolinski placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:36.62 to open the meet, and Arnott and Harrigan went one-two in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:00.62, 10:04.88) in a big performance for the Ducks.
Xu and Betz went two-three in the 200-yard freestyle, touching at 1:47.24 and 1:48.84, respectively, while Sun added a second-place finish and Gehenio a third in the 100-yard backstroke (53.05, 54.33). Lefeber and sophomore
Alex Chen finished second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:00.99 1:01.69, while senior
Price Hu picked up a win in the 200-yard butterfly thanks to a 1:59.72. Arnott was second in the 200-fly, carding a 2:00.10.
Wolinski and Gehenio were second and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 21.69 and 22.26, respectively. Wolinski came back in the next race to win the 100-freestyle with a 47.29 and he was followed by teammate Xu in third place after a 47.84.
Stevens will return to practice in Hoboken next week before hosting nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins University Saturday in the DeBaun Aquatic Center. For those unable to attend, the meet can be seen live via
