UTICA, NY — The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team beat host Utica, 138-50, Saturday afternoon.

The Saxons earned wins in all but two individual events and claimed both relays as they improved to 4-1 in dual meets this season.

Feshman Alec Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) and senior Joseph Rogers (Dublin, NH) each won two individual events to lead AU. Toth won the 200 freestyle (1:51.73) and 500 free (5:11.32); Rogers won the 1,000 free (11:14.18) and 100 free (49.27).

Also claiming wins for the Saxons were: senior David Coombes (Dansville, NY/Dansville) in the 200 IM (2:09.95); freshman Joe Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) in the 50 free (23.37); freshman Seth Steele (Crossville,TN/Cicero-North Syracuse (NY))in one-meter diving (156.00 points); and freshman Matt Watterson (Westerville, OH/Worthington Christian) in the 100 butterfly (58.25).

Coombes, senior Zac Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint), Lawrence and freshman Derek Ciraolo (Grand Island, NY/St. Joseph's) won the 200 medley relay (1:43.17), while Coombes, senior Jeff Rowland (Rochester, NY/Hilton), Rogers and Zac Toth won the 200 free relay (1:31.84).

AU is in action next on Friday, Jan. 16, at noon at LeMoyne.
