Ithaca Competes at Southern Tier Collegiate Open
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's indoor track and field team competed at the Cornell Southern Tier Collegiate Open on Friday, Jan. 9th in Barton Hall. No team scoring was tallied in the meet that consisted of NCAA Division I institutions, club teams and unattached runners.
Sophomore
Brandy Smith earned a team-best first place finish on Friday evening. She earned the top spot in the women's weight throw with 14.97 meters (49.114 feet), surpassing the ECAC qualifying standards. Smith also claimed a distance of 11.37 meters (37.30 feet) in the shot put to take sixth place overall.
Junior
Christine Kelly earned a second place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.30 seconds. Junior teammate
Lizzi Dowling followed close behind, placing fourth with a time of 8.36 seconds in the dash.
Junior
Eliza Dewart competed in the 400-meter dash, recording a third place finish in 1:00.77 seconds, just milliseconds short of the ECAC qualifying standard.
Senior captain
Leigh Martino also came less than one second shy of the ECAC mark by finishing fourth in the 500-meter dash in 1:22.58. The ECAC lists 1:22:00 as the time to beat.
Sierra Grazia earned a solid rookie start by taking fourth in the 800-meter run. She crossed the finish line in 2:27.92.
Senior
Harmony (Graves) Malone also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash. Malone's performance of 26.48 seconds missed the ECAC standard time by eight tenths of a second. Dewart completed the 200-meter dash in 26.91 seconds, earning a sixth place finish overall.

Taryn Cordani took fourth in the 1600m relay with a time of 4:18.18.
Junior
Emily Williams placed third and Dowling took sixth in the long jump event. Williams reached a distance of 5.05 meters (16.57 feet) and Dowling a length of 4.74 meters (15.55 feet).
Senior captain
Emilia Scheemaker reached the ECAC qualifying mark in the triple jump and sophomore
Natalie Meyer surpassed the conference standards in the high jump. Scheemaker claimed a distance of 11.20 meters (36.75 feet) in the triple jump and Meyer recorded a high jump height of 1.65 meters (5.41 feet).
The Bombers return to action on Friday, Jan. 16th at the NYU Team Challenge in New York, N.Y. The meet time is set for 1 p.m.
