Alfred Wins Meet at Utica 1/10/2015 9:17:33 PM UTICA, NY — The Alfred University women's swimming and diving team defeated host Utica, 141-57, Saturday afternoon. The Saxons got wins nine of 10 individual events and swept the two relays to improve to 3-4 in dual-meet action this season. Sophomore Dylan Staniszewski (Oakton, VA/Oakton) and junior Kelsey McRill (Solon, OH/Solon) and senior Chrissy Behr (Surf City, NJ/Southern Regional) each won two events to lead AU. Staniszewski won the 200 freestyle (2:06.11) and the 500 freestyle (5:42.59) and Behr claimed the 200 IM (2:21.60) and 100 free (58.16). Also earning individual wins for AU were: sophomore Faith Lanfear (Port Crane, NY/Chanango Valley) in the 1,000 free (12:48.43); junior Kelsey McRill (Solon, OH/Solon) in the 50 free (26.42); junior Emma Gromelski (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) in one-meter diving (167.35 points); sophomore Samantha Brown (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) in the 100 butterfly (1:09.36); and freshman Megan Steen (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth) in the 100 backstroke (1:08.43). Behr, senior Molly Blair (Auburn, NY/Auburn), freshman Elizabeth Schiffhauer (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) and McRill won the 200 medley relay (2:01.91); Brown, Lanfear, Staniszewski and Steen took the 200 free relay (1:50.72). AU is in action next on Friday, Jan. 16, at noon at LeMoyne.
