Senior pitcher John Prendergast of the Ithaca College baseball team has been chosen by D3baseball.com as a preseason Second-Team All-American. The teams were announced on Tuesday evening, Jan. 13.

Prendergast is now a two-time preseason All-American after D3baseball.com selected the right-handed hurler as a second-teamer last winter.

Over his first three seasons at Ithaca, Prendergast has been named an ABCA/Rawlings All-America, D3baseball.com All-America and an all-region performer five times – three from ABCA and two from D3baseball.com. He was also the Empire 8 Conference and ECAC Upstate Pitcher of the Year in 2014, and back in 2012, he garnered Rookie of the Year honors from the Empire 8 and ECAC.

Prendergast owns a 27-2 overall record over 246 innings pitched with the Bombers, and has struck out 187 batters. He boasts a 2.49 career earned-run average to go along with 10 complete games.

At the College World Series in 2013, Prendergast tossed 15.1 innings in two starts and picked up the victory against Millsaps. He struck out 11 hitters with just three earned runs in the two outings.

The Bombers open 2015 at St. Joseph's – Brooklyn on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. Ithaca will stay on Long Island where it will play Baruch and Western New England on the 28th, and Old Westbury on March 1.
