SYRACUSE, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team shut down Le Moyne College's hopes of earning a win on Friday afternoon as the Saxons edged out a 1-point win, 119-118.
Both Saxon relay teams in the 200 Medley and 200 Free earned top places with times of 1:40.22 and 1:29.43, respectively.
Jake Olson (Dansville, NY/Dansville),
Jeffrey Rowland (Rochester, NY/Hilton),
Zac Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) and
David Luke (Ocala, FL/West Port) teamed for the early win while the latter was composed of Luke,
Matthew Watterson (Westerville, OH/Worthington Christian),
Jack Traynor (Westminter, NY/Winters Mill) and
David Coombes (Dansville, NY/Dansville).
Coombes also picked up an Alfred victory in the 100 Free with a time of 48.25 and the 200 Free with a time of 1:48.38 while teammate,
Joseph Rogers (Dublin, NH) was right behind hime with a time of 1:48.89.
Luke also got the Saxons' other win in the pool on Friday in the 50 Free. He topped the Dolphins' Michael Bardo by almost a full second (21.96).
The Saxons will host the Hawks of Hartwick College tomorrow. The meet starts in McLane at 1:00 pm.
