Ithaca And Stevens Indoor T&F Compete At Gotham Cup
ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's track and field team participated in the 2015 New York City Gotham Cup at the New York Armory on Friday Jan. 16. Four women reached ECAC qualifying standards. The meet consisted of athletes from all divisions, track clubs and unattached runners. There was no team scoring.
Freshman
Sophia Feuer and junior
Eliza Dewart both met the qualifying standards in the 400-meter for the ECAC. Feuer clocked a 41st place finish in 59.85 seconds. Dewart finished in 1:00.00 to take first place in her heat and 46th place overall. Senior
Leigh Martino also participated in the 400 for the Bombers. She placed 60th with a time of 1:01.62.
Sophomore
Natalie Meyer and junior
Alex Rechen met ECAC standards in the high jump and pole vault. Meyer completed a height of 1.65 meters in the high jump and Rechen cleared 3.45 meters in the pole vault. Meyer placed fifth overall and Rechen earned a 12th place finish.
Freshman
Kassandra Reagan also competed in the high jump, placing 26th overall with a height of 1.50 meters.
Katherine Pitman took 24th in the pole vault by clearing 3.15 meters. Teammates
Amanda Zaput and
Elizabeth Schomp both tied for 29th place after meeting 3.00 meters.
Lauren Hodge was the only Bomber to compete in the 3000-meter. She took 23rd on a time of 11.31.70.
A trio of Ithaca runners raced in the mile event. Senior
Emily Smith led the Bombers by finishing 38th in 5:23.30. Juniors
Rachelle Sartori and
Anna Fay clocked times of 5:27.08 and 5:37.17 to palce 40th and 59th respectively.
Rookie
Sierra Grazia missed ECAC standards by less than a half senond in the 500-meter run. Grazia finished in 53rd place with a time of 1:22.49. Sophomore teammate
Kristin Lynn followed in 1:24.61 to rank 61st overall.
Taryn Cordani, Michael Cioffredi and
Colleen Vaughn all participated in the 800-meter race. Cordani led her teammates with a 46th place finish of 2:26.97. Cioffredi and Vaughn earned times of 2:29.22 and 2:30.35 to rank 55th and 61st overall.
Senior
Rachel Friedman and Reagan raced in the 200-meter dash. Friedman took 60th and Reagan placed 67th, clocking times of 27.69 seconds and 27.83 second.
Vaughn, Cioffredi, Cordani and Grazia made up the Bombers distance medley relay team. The group earned a team-best relay finish of 10th place overall by finishing in 13:06.36.
Ithaca's 1600-meter relay team consisted of Dewart, Ferur, Martino and
Brianna Hayes. The quad ranked 18th in the 4x400-meter relay by clocking a time of 4:08.58, coming less than one second shy of the ECAC qualifying mark.
Ithaca's 4x800-meter relay time earned an eleventh place finish. The team was composed of Lynn, E. Smith, Fay and Sartori and finished in 10:03.50.
Emily Williams led Ithaca in the long jump with a distance of 4.98 meters and a 30th place finish.
Christine Kelly, Hayes and Meyer took 35th, 37th and 39th. Kelly marked a length of 4.73 meters, while Hayes hit 4.66 and Meyer landed 4.61 meters.
Sophomore
Lexi Clavet finished 22nd in the triple jump. Clavet clocked a distance of 10.53 meters. Kelly followed in 23rd place, reaching 10.49 meters.
Francesca Boylan and
Corrine Taylor competed in the shot put event for Ithaca. Boylan ranked 34th by throwing a distance of 10.65 meters. Taylor met a length of 10.29 to secure a 39th place finish.
Sophomore
Brandy Smith and
Yvonne Palacios finished 20th and 28th overall in the weight throw. Smith reached a distance of 13.61 meter while Palacios marked 12.50 meters.
A few members of the women's team will also be competing on Saturday, Jan. 17 at RIT. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
The women return back to action in Ithaca, N.Y. on Feb. 24 at the Cornell Upstate Challenge.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team participated in the NYC Gotham Cup at the New York Armory on Friday. There was no team scoring in the multi-divisional and unattached meet.
Three student-athletes for Ithaca set personal records, while another met ECAC-qualifying standards.
Junior
Andrew Brandt cleared 1.94 meters (6 feet, 4.25 inches) in the high jump to place 14th overall and qualify for the ECAC Championships. Five other competitors tied Brandt, and were from NCAA Division I or II institutions.
Sophomore
Andrew Ward also competed in the high jump and set a personal-best mark of 1.84 meters (6' 0.5") to take 34th overall. Ward took part in the 60-meter hurdles as well and finished 58th overall in a time of 9.15 seconds.
Freshman
Tim Chappell and junior
Alex Schneider were the other two Bombers to post personal-best performances on Friday. Chappell clocked a time of 4:32.73 in the mile to place 48th, and Schneider posted a 9.17-second finish in the 60 hurdles which was good for 59th.
In the pole vault, freshman
Dylan Bland cleared 4.20 meters (13' 9.25") for 18th overall. Senior
Dennis Ryan crossed the line in a time of 1:58.96 in the 800-meter run to place 23rd, which was the second fastest D-III time in the event.
Senior
Anthony Altobelli joined Ryan in the 800 and ran a time of 2:04.28 to take 56th.
Sophomore
Larry Cass measured out 12.78 meters (41' 11.25") in the weight throw and came in 26th, while classmate
JT Buttimer came in 33rd overall with a mark of 11.40 meters (37' 5").
Buttimer also entered in the shot put and posted a distance of 11.33 meters (37' 2.25") which placed him 44th overall.
Senior
Mason Mann was also a top 50 performer for the Bombers on Friday in the 500-meter run with a 43rd place showing in a time of 1:08.35. Freshman
Gerardo Munoz finished less than a second behind Mann with a time of 1:09.18 and took 52nd overall.
Sophomore
Roosevelt Lee represented Ithaca in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash with times of 7.60 seconds and 24.33 seconds. Freshman
Noah Cohen and junior
Dane Eckweiler competed in the 60 and 200 along with Lee. Cohen clocked a time of 7.97 seconds in the 60, while Eckweiler finished the 200 in 24:07 seconds.
Cohen was also a participant in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.82 seconds.

Kyle MacKinnon and sophomore
Nick DiNapoli, ran in the 400-meter dash. Smith led the way in a time of 52.45 seconds, while MacKinnon was close behind in 53.02 seconds and DiNapoli finished in 54.32 seconds.
Ithaca returns to action on Jan. 24 at the Cornell Upstate Challenge. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
NEW YORK, N.Y. (January 17, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's indoor track teams put together strong showings at the N.Y.C. Gotham Cup Friday, hosted by the New York Armory Track & Field Center.
The one day event featured competitors from all three NCAA divisions, and points were only tallied for Division I institutions.
Sophomore Nicholas Zickgraf qualified for ECACs with a 4:18 mile, good for the school record in that event. Elsewhere for the men, sophomore Daniel Jacome took first place in the shot put third flight with a throw of 13.51 meters.
On the women's side, junior Amy Regan broke the school record for the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:41, qualifying her for the ECACs and giving her the best time in NCAA DIII. Sophomore Victoria Taibe also set a personal best with a 13.59 meter weight throw putting her just shy of the ECAC qualifying mark.
"We had some solid performances today even though we are working through these early season meets," head coach Justin Wood said. Our main focus is preparing the athletes for championship performances later in the season."
Both the men and women will return to the track next weekend where they'll compete in the Springfield College Invitational.
