Three Women's Indoor Teams Compete At Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY - The Alfred University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the College at Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational.
 
The AU women placed 10th, of 14 teams, while the Saxon men were 12th, of 14 teams in the field.
 
Senior Miasia Hillman (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) and sophomore Mary Baughman (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) paced the AU women. Hillman won the 60-meter dash (7.77 seconds), while Baughman took fourth in the mile run (5:25.48).
 
The AU team of freshman Lindsay Piraino (Nunda, NY/Keshequa), sophomores Marissa Colburn (Bridgeport, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) and Abby Hampson(Canton, NY/Williams), and freshman Teresa Fallon (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) placed fifth in the distance medley (14:38.39). Freshman Brynn Hyde(Homer, NY/Homer) was 16th in the weight throw (11.79 meters)
 
Sophomore Jeffrey Nunez (Wurtsboro, NY/Ellenville) and freshman Seth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) each scored points in individual events to lead the Alfred men's team. Nunez was sixth in the weight throw (15.16 meters) and Spicer was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.21).
 
Junior Gregory Matos (Bronx, NY/ELLIS Prep) was 12th in the 400-meter run (52.21) and sophomore D'Mitri Simmons (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) was 13thin the triple jump (11.72 meters) . Freshmen Alexander Kenney (Trumansburg, NY/Dickerson), Jeff Daneault (Natick, MA/Natick), Erik Diehl (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) and Matt Roder (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) were fifth in the distance medley (11:23.26).
 
Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Houghton College.

HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher College women's indoor track and field team competed at the Houghton College Highlander Invitational on Saturday. It was the first-ever collegiate meet at Houghton's Kerr Pegula Fieldhouse.

Taylor Youngkrans set a new Fisher record, winning the weight throw with a distance of 15.99 meters. Youngkrans also finished fourth in the shot put, while teammate Alyssa Mountain was fifth in the event.

Meg Vona was the runner-up in the triple jump, while Katie Wilbur placed fifth. Vona also finished fifth in the 60-meter dash, while Wilbur was seventh.

Sammy Van Gee was second overall in the 5K, finishing in 19:20.

Jessica Locke was third in the high jump at 1.45 meters, while Danyelle Redmond was third in the pole vault
Allison Corretore and Ronni Ehlers were fourth and sixth, respectively in the 60-meter hurdles, while Jessica Colmerauer and Chelsea Cleveland were fifth and sixth, respectively in the 200.
 
Nicoletta Lattuca was second in the long jump, while Lisa Knab was fifth in the event.
Fisher's distance medley relay, consisting of Sarah Coon, Morgan Mastin, Sydney Saccone and Katlin Shippy, won the event with a time of 13:06.
 
The 4x400 relay team of Chelsea Grupp, Colmerauer, Cleveland and Mastin placed second overall with a time of 4:15.11.

Fisher returns to action next Saturday at the Ithaca College Invitational.
 
BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's track and field teams were in action at Brockport on Saturday. Junior Tom Sippie set the school record in the 200-meter dash with a third-place time of :22.43, which broke Ira Griffin's 2012 record of :22.98. Sippie also took second in the 400-meter event with a time of :49.32. In the women's meet, senior Hannah Brackleywon the 200 and 400-meter dash events with times of :26.49 and :59.13, respectively.

In the women's meet, Brockport took first with 109 total points. Oneonta was second with 84 points and St. Lawrence was third with 76 points. Nazareth recorded 34 points for seventh place out of the 14 teams.

Senior Michaela Gildemeyer took fourth place in the 800-meter event with a time of 2:20.92. The Golden Flyers' 4x200 relay team, consisting of Taylor Pierson, Alex Walker, Amanda Entress, and Sibongile Chisi, placed fifth with a time of 1:52.45. Chisi and Pierson each recorded seventh-place finishes in field events. Chisi was seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 2.9 meters (9 ft., 6 1/4 in.), and Pierson had a mark of 5.26 meters (17 ft., 3 1/4 in.) in the long jump despite five fouls. Freshman Samantha Goble added a point in the 400-meter dash with an eighth-place time of 1:04.05.

Entress added a 10th-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.35 meters (33 ft., 11 1/2 in.). Senior Kate Durr was 13th in the high jump with a mark of 1.4 meters (4 ft., 7 in.). In the 60-meter prelims, Walker was 14th with a time of 8.44 seconds.

Oneonta claimed first in the men's meet with 155 points, followed by host Brockport with 129.5 points. Hamilton took third with 63 total points. Nazareth's 34 points put them in eighth place of 14 teams.

In addition to the performances by Sippie, freshman Nick LaBarbera was seventh in the 200 and 400 events. LaBarbera crossed the line with a time of :23.25 in the 200 and :51.11 in the 400 event. Juniors Khiary Gayle and Luis Rivera also scored points for the Golden Flyers with second-place finishes. Gayle recorded a mark of 13.79 meters (45 ft., 3 in.), and Rivera had a throw of 17.55 meters (57 ft., 7 in.). Rivera's throw was just shy of his 17.62 meter (57 ft., 9 3/4 in.) mark from last week that broke the school record.

In the shot put, junior Brandon Vuolo was 10th with a mark of 13.32 meters (43 ft., 8 1/2 in.) while sophomore Matt Battaglia was 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.3. In the 60-meter prelims, sophomore Richardson Pierre was 11th with a time of :7.41 seconds.

The Golden Flyers are in action again January 31st when Nazareth travels to Ithaca.
 
BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The Utica College men and women track and field teams competed at the Brockport Golden Eagle Multi Invitational this weekend at the Special Events Recreation Center's House of Fields.  The women placed eighth scoring 21 points while the men finished in ninth place out of the 14 team field.

Freshman jumper James Brown led the men's squad as he leaped to an impressive victory in the high jump recording a leap of 1.93 meters while grabbing ten points. Classmate Quaryee Bull gathered six points with a third place finish in the triple jump soaring 13.75 meters.

Sophomore Nicodemus Gambill tallied a third place finish in the 60-meter dash as he qualified for ECAC's with a time of 7.05, collecting six points. 

Junior Kyle Cairns and senior Jamie McNamara combined for seven team points in the 5000 meter run as Cairns placed fourth with a time of 15:54.67 followed by McNamara's time of 16:35.57 finishing in seventh place.

On the women's side, junior jumper Sarah Wiatr (Poland, NY/West Canada Valley)continued her impressive campaign with another victory in the triple jump as she registered a leap of 11.37 meters for 10 team points. Wiatr also placed fifth in the 60 meter dash grabbing four points with a watch of 8.24.

Junior Ashton Villeneuve (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) chipped in with one point in the 5000 meter run with a time of 11:09.52 as she finished eighth for the Pioneers.

Freshman Ann Ciancia (Glassboro, NJ/Paul VI) tied an indoor school record with a soar of 2.30 meters in the pole vault as she finished 11th.

UC returns to the track next as it crosses town to compete in the Hamilton Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m. at the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House in Clinton, NY on Hamilton's campus. After Hamilton, Utica will have a week off to prepare for the 2015 Empire 8 Indoor Championships set for Saturday Feb. 14, 2015 in Houghton, NY. This year's championships will be hosted by Empire 8 new addition Houghton College and held at the Kerr-Pegula Fieldhouse.
