Sealey Selected To Coordinate E8 Baseball Officials
ROCHESTER, NY – The Empire 8 Conference has selected Darrin Sealey as its first Coordinator of Baseball Officials.
"I truly appreciate this opportunity that the conference and schools of the Empire 8 have bestowed upon me, Sealey said. “I believe that all of us have the same ambition, which is to provide the best possible experience for the student-athlete. This is a lofty, but noble goal and I will reach to obtain it every day."
While serving the Empire 8, Sealey will also act as the Supervisor of Baseball Umpires for six NCAA Division I conferences: the America East, Big East, Ivy League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Northeast Conference and Patriot League.
Sealey brings an extensive background in the field. He acted as Supervisor of Colleges Umpires in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Conference for 16 years. He also served as an umpire for Division I championships for over 20 years.
"We are very excited to welcome Darrin as our first ever Baseball Officials Coordinator,” E8 Commissioner Chuck Mitrano said. “The depth of experience and knowledge make him an exceptional leader for this important position. It is exciting to have Empire 8 serve as a training ground for future Division I umpires and crew members."
Prior to his years on the baseball diamond, Sealey attended Marshall University and earned a Bachelor’s in economics. He later attended the Harry Wendelstedt School of Professional Umpiring in Florida where he was an honors graduate in 1993.
