ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team improved to 3-2 in dual-meets with a 153-109 win at Empire 8 foe Hartwick College Saturday.

Junior Ravi Sun led the Ducks with a pair of wins, both of which set new pool-records.

Sun, junior Joshua Lefeber, freshman Brennan Maxwell and junior Tomasz Wolinski opened the afternoon with a win in the 200-medley relay, and rookie Connor Harrigan and sophomore Conner Arnott went two-three in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:07.73, 10:11.08).

Wolinski picked up a third in the 200-freestyle (1:48.17), and Sun's first pool-record came in the 100-yard backstroke thanks to a 51.55. Junior Dane Pilcher notched a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, turning in a 1:00.73, with veteran Price Hu going second in the 200-fly (2:00.16) and fellow senior John Rees taking third (2:00.95).

Lefeber and rookie Ethan Gehenio went one-two in the 50-free, touching at 21.94 and 22.14, and Wolinski and Lefeber were second and third in the 100-yard freestyle (47.25, 47.75). Sun's second pool-record came in the 200-yard backstroke as the senior finished with a time of 1:52.11, and sophomore Alex Chen won the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking a 2:13.39. Freshman David Duque placed second with 2:17.78 in the 200-breaststroke.

Arnott and Harrigan went two-three in the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.41, 4:59.83), with sophomore Austen Young winning the 100-yard butterfly (50.75). Pilcher picked up his second win of the day in the 200-yard IM, clocking a 2:00.98, with the team of Gehenio, Lefeber, Rees and Wolinski taking the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:09.64.

The Ducks will now turn their attention to the Empire 8 Championships that will run from February 18-21 in Webster, N.Y.




Ithaca 185.5, Union 115.5

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team moved to 15-0 in dual meets this season with a 181.5-115.5 win at Union Saturdayafternoon. The Bombers finished first in 12 of 16 events, including two relay victories.

Ithaca started the meet with a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Adam Zelehowsky, Aidan Hartswick, Lucas Zelehowsky and Logan Metzgerfinished in a time of 1:35.65, beating out three other relay teams.

A. Zelehowsky followed with two individual first place finishes, starting with the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.78. He also added a victory in the 500-yard freestyle, taking first in 4:54.15.

L. Zelehowsky chipped in with two more individual victories, sweeping both fly events. His time of 2:03.57 paced the field of four in the 200-yard butterfly, before he placed first out of six entries in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.09.

Metzger also experienced individual success later in the meet. He placed first in the 50-yard freestyle, touching first with a time of 21.55. Metzger earned his second victory of the day in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 47.97.

Senior diver Matt Morrison continued his dominant season with a sweep of the diving events. He placed first in the 3-meter with a score of 371.10, before pacing the field of five in 1-meter with a score of 363.52.

Senior Clement Towner rounded out the individual first-place finishes for the Bombers, as he took the top spot in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:18.76.

Ithaca closed the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of A. Zelehowsky, Jonathan Wheeler, Connor Schroyer and Metzger touched first, finishing in a time of 3:15.60.

Ithaca returns to action on Feb. 14, as the Bombers will host the Ithaca Invitational at the Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion.




RIT 175, Nazareth 123

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nazareth’s men’s swimming and diving team hosted RIT on Saturday in the final regular season meet of the year. The Tigers defeated the Golden Flyers by the score of 175-123. Freshman Andrew Battaglia and junior Dan Burke each won three events in the meet.

Battaglia’s victories came in the 200-meter butterfly (2:29.62), 400-meter freestyle (4:24.15), and 800-meter freestyle (9:03.06). Burke claimed victory in a pair of backstroke races and the 200-meter IM. He finished touched the wall in the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke events with times of :59.92 and 2:09.5, respectively. In the IM, he finished with a time of 2:17.13.

Freshmen Gannon Connors and Ian Deveney added second-place and third-place finishes in individual events. Connors was second in the 100-meter backstroke (1:03.26), and Deveney was second in the 200-meter butterfly (2:27.8). In the 100 butterfly, Deveney had a time of 1:06.04, and Connors finished the 50-meter freestyle in :25.67. Freshman Philip Nanula was third in the 800-meter freestyle (9:15.28), while sophomore Matt Leverich was third in the 200-meter free (2:02.56), and Nicholas Mooney was third in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:45.67).

With RIT's relay team swimming exhibition, Nazareth's 400-meter freestyle team took first with a time of 3:48.88. The team consisted of Connors, Sean Doyle, Nanula, and Leverich. The Golden Flyers' 200-meter medley team was second with a time of 1:54.15. Burke started the relay and was followed by Ibrahim Stungurys, Battaglia, and Leverich.

Nazareth is in action again February 18th-21st when the Golden Flyers host the UNYSCSA/Empire 8 Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center.




St. Lawrence 103, Utica 71

UTICA, N.Y. – The Utica College men lost Saturday to St. Lawrence University in its final home match of the regular season at the UC Pool. Junior Raphael Warnon (Rock Tavern, NY/Washingtonville) led the men with two victories and 18 solo points.
The men lost, 103-71and return to the pool next Saturday when it heads to Potsdam, NY to face the Clarkson University Golden Knights.
Warnon continued his solid campaign racking up two wins for the men in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.41) and backstroke (2:03.49), collecting nine points in each.

Freshman Aaron Gudrian (Windsor, CT/Windsor) totaled 13 points with a victory and a second place tally. Gudrian clocked a time of 2:11.01 as he touched the wall first in the 200 butterfly and finished second in the 200 free with a watch of 1:58.81.
