Fisher Ends 2014 Season Nationally-Ranked In Both Final Polls

The St. John Fisher College football squad ended the 2014 season ranked in the top 25 in both national polls.  The D3football.com poll pegged Fisher at 21st nationally, while the America Football Coaches Association (AFCA) ranked Fisher 24th in the final poll.
The Cardinals wrapped up the 2014 season with a 9-2 record, which included defeating Western Connecticut State University 28-14 in the ECAC Northwest Bowl.  It was Fisher's 12th straight trip to the postseason including improving to 6-1 all-time in ECAC Bowl games. 
Fisher earned a share of the Empire 8 Championship for the fifth time in program history after finishing with a 6-2 mark in conference play. 
Coach Vosburgh's defensive unit ranked in the top 15 in the country in three categories. The Fisher defense ranked 10th in 3rd down conversion percentage (26.5%), 11th in red zone defense (58.6%) and 14th for total defense (268.8 YPG).  On the side of the ball, Fisher's 455.5 total yards per game ranked 31st in the nation, while its nearly 37 points per game was good for 37th in the country.
Several Cardinals earned postseason accolades, including Tyler Fenti repeating as the Offensive Player of the Year in the Empire 8. Fenti, who was also named as the ECAC North Offensive Player of the Year, and center Zach Shipley were selected to the D3football.com All-East Region Second Team, while Jordan Andrews, Peter DiMilia, Byrant Moore and Ryan Ballard all secured Third Team status.  DiMilia also earned a Capital One Academic All-American selection.
