BIO
Why did you choose to attend Hartwick? I chose Hartwick College because of the great academic opportunities; they offer J-term here, which is something that attracts a lot of students. And another reason is because of Head Coach Dale Rothenberger, he has helped me out a lot academically and athletically to reach my goals.
What has been the greatest part of your experience as a college athlete? The greatest part of my experience so far was my first year. I made so many new friends and to go through taper together as a team with 40 different athletes is an amazing experience. You all progressively get faster throughout the season and it’s just something amazing to be a part of. And the first time you go fast with a team like this, it’s unforgettable.
Who has been the most influential person during your athletic career? Why? My mom and dad, they have always encouraged me to try my best. And as long as I have done my best that is all that matters and they have been proud of me. They are here at every meet at Hartwick, always cheering me on. I know as long as I try my best in helping out the team and the program then I am making my family proud.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I see myself in graduate school. I am currently in the education program here at Hartwick and I’m hoping to go to graduate to school to continue on and get my masters and hopefully doctorate someday.
What do you like most about competing in the E8? I like that athletes from all over the country come and compete in the schools that are part of the E8. And each school brings something different to the conference championships. There is a different philosophy behind each program and each swimmer is different and brings something unique to the race. You never know what will happen and it keeps you on your toes.
What do you do in your spare time? I am really into running. When we aren’t in season I like to work out, listen to music and hang out with friends.
Top 3 things on your bucket list? Go rock climbing in the Rocky mountain area. Visit all the national parks in the United States. And learn to scuba dive.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I like to paint. I was really into painting in high school. It serves as a stress reliever being in competition a lot.
