Three St. John Fisher College teams participated in fundraising events this past weekend in Rochester.

The men's lacrosse team walked in the American Diabetes Association's Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes event on Saturday, October 17th at Genesee Valley Park. This is the third annual year the men's lacrosse team has participated. The initiative was brought about by former Fisher two-time All-American Mike Blood, a childhood diabetic who persevered through his disease throughout his career as a St. John Fisher College lacrosse player.

More than 1,400 people united to help the American Diabetes Association reach its $250,000 fundraising goal. The contributions included donations from members of the Fisher men's lacrosse team to be put toward an eventual cure. Each year there are nearly two million new cases of Diabetes.  It is estimated that as of today, there are 79 million people in the United States that could develop the disease.  The American Diabetes Associates (ADA) is committed to finding a cure and stamping out this terrible affliction.

The baseball team and field hockey teams both took part in the Making Strides of Rochester walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society on Sunday, October 18th.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks are the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting nearly 300 communities with a shared determination to finish the fight. The more than 4,000 participants raised over $318,000 dollars to help find a cure, while Fisher raised over $2,500 itself for the cause.
