Four Corvias ECAC Athletes of the Week

Four Empire 8 student-athletes were honored as the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Athletes of the Week in the region for their performances during the week of Oct. 12-18, 2015.

Football – North
Defensive Player of the Week
Rey Jordan – Buffalo State College, Jr., Cornerback, Buffalo, N.Y.
Jordan became the first player in Buffalo State history to return two interceptions for a touchdown in the same game, taking picks 42 and 27 yards to the end zone in Buffalo State's 62-0 win over Finlandia. He also had three tackles, including one for loss as the Bengals' defense set school records allowing just 24 yards of total offense and minus-32 rushing yards.
 
Men’s Soccer – Upstate
Offensive Player of the Week
Michael Bryant – Elmira College, Jr., Forward, Portola Hills, Calif.
Bryant guided Elmira to pair of wins last week as he finished with eight points on four goals. Bryant scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in a 3-2 come-from-behind win against SUNY Canton. He then scored two more against Houghton, including the game-winner. Bryant has scored in six consecutive games, with 10 goals during that time, including four multi-goal performances.  
 
Men’s Soccer – Upstate
Defensive Player of the Week
Zach Jacobsen – Ithaca College, Jr., Goalkeeper, Frederick, Md.
Jacobsen led the Bombers to a 1-0-1 record including a conference win at Nazareth. He was credited with two shutouts during the week including a 3-0 win over the Golden Flyers before picking up a scoreless draw against nationally-ranked Skidmore. Jacobsen had 11 combined saves in 200 minutes of action including 10 against the Thoroughbreds.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Metro/Upstate Region
Player of the Week
Lora Allen – Utica College, Sr., Setter, Dolgeville, N.Y.
Allen totaled 166 assists and 64 digs in five matches last week. On Oct. 14, she had a career-high 47 assists and 25 digs in a 3-2 loss to SUNY Poly. Allen, Utica’s career assist leader, now has 1,995 career assists, just five away from the 2,000-assist milestone. She also set a new career-high of 753 assists in a single season.
