E8 Spotlight: Courtney Malia

Courtney Malia (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) and is a senior midfielder for the Nazareth College women's soccer team.
Why did you choose to attend Nazareth? First and foremost for the education as Nazareth has a great Mathematics department and I specialize mathematic education. There are a lot of opportunities to go into the Rochester city and work in different types of school settings. The class sizes are small and you get to know your professors really well and I know I’m getting the full potential that Nazareth has to offer.
What has been the greatest part of your experience as a college athlete? The feeling of being a part of the team and knowing I will always be a part of Nazareth soccer even after I graduate.
Who has been the most influential person during your athletic career? My parents support me on and off the field and push me to do my best. Their support is endless and unconditional.
Where do you see yourself in five years? In New York hopefully teaching high school math.
What do you like most about competing in the E8? I like the competition level that E8 has to offer and the rivalries within the conference.
What do you do in your spare time? I like to read and enjoy being outside.
Top 3 things on your bucket list? To travel across the country and see what the US has to offer. Take a trip to Italy and see all the sights. Go skydiving.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I have two brothers in the military and they are both big influences in my life.
