Lander and Renna Named Academic All-District
Alfred University junior midfielder Richard Lander and Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer junior keeper Mike Renna have been named
First Team Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Lander was named a CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District 3 honoree, while Renna was honored in District 2. Both will be eligible for Academic All-American honors set to be released in late November.
The CoSIDA academic honors program takes into consideration excellence in the classroom and on the playing field. Student-athletes are eligible if they have a grade point average of at least 3.30.
Lander, a mechanical engineering major, has a cumulative GPA of 3.96. He is a two-time Empire 8 Conference all-star, having earned Second Team honors as a freshman and sophomore. This year he leads his team in goals (10), assists (nine) and points (29); his nine assists also lead the Empire 8 Conference while his goals and points totals rank second.
Renna's tallied 52 saves and five shutouts this season for the No. 10 Ducks, to go along with a 0.99 goals against average. In the classroom, Renna's compiled a 3.62 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. Earlier this season he reached a personal milestone when he recorded his 100th career save.
