Fisher Takes First Place In Mid Atlantic Championship
The St. John Fisher College men's golf team took first place for the third time this season this weekend at the ECAC Division III Mid Atlantic Regional Championship.
After two rounds the Cardinals finished with a final score of 583, 34 strokes under the second place score.
The Cardinals set themselves up nicely, carrying a 13 stroke lead into second round play. Fisher pulled away on Day Two, carding a cumulative team score of 291 (+3) to win by 34 strokes. St. Lawrence University and Marywood University finished in a tie for second, after carding identical team scores on Day One and Day Two.
Junior
Karl Deuble was the medalist of the tournament with a score of 142 for two rounds. The Liverpool native shot a 72 on the first day, and secured the win with a 70 for round two.
Corey Haas was also a front-runner for Fisher scoring a 145 (70, 75) for two rounds, good for second place overall, while in fifth place was freshman
Jeff Palmerino with a 148 (76,72).
Next was
Blake Reifsnyder, finishing tied for 12
th shooting a 153 (78-75) with
Christopher Salone not far behind tied for 14
th with a 154 (74, 80).
Ian Campbell closed out two rounds at 156 (77, 79), while Robby Stehlin and Josh Rathburn both finished tied for 21
st each scoring a 157.
Elmira's top finisher was
Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 who carded a 77 (+5) on Day Two to finish in a tie for 25
th place overall.
Brandon Payne '18 finished in the second position for the Soaring Eagles, backing up his 78 (+6) from yesterday's opening round with an 85 (+13) on Day Two.
